Murry Bartow thread
ETSU fans are wallowing away. We stink, as in not very good in the A-Sun stink. Since 2009, we've had players wrapped up in DUI/underage consumption, domestic assault, vandalism and now dealing drugs. ALL, under his watch. Was this kind of the pattern while he was at UAB? While he's won more than he's lost for us, it's been smoke and mirrors. We'd hoped somebody would be stupid enough to take him (Samford) but they didn't. Help a disgusted Buc fan out.
And oh by the way, they hired his wife to coach the 40 cheerleaders ETSU has.
I need ammo.

RE: Murry Bartow thread
Nothing as bad as what you are saying went on during his tenure at UAB. Sometimes, coaches get desperate for wins and begin recruiting bad eggs that have loads of talent. A place like ETSU could land a few otherwise mid-to high-major prospects that get passed over due to behavior and/or academic issues... Murry must be getting desperate.
Murry Bartow is a great guy and I think I speak for all Blazer fans when I say I wish him the best at ETSU or wherever his career leads him.

RE: Murry Bartow thread
I'm not asking for putdowns, he is a nice guy but something you guys may not even realize is ETSU has NEVER had these problems. I'm not naive to think that guys didn't drink or smoke a little grass on occasion, or even run a little game on a girl (not defending it, just saying) but NEVER, not in the early 90's when we were really good under Robinson/LeForce, or even under DeChellis were there issues.
Our mantra has always been to recruit athletic guys who were raw basketball wise (See Keith Jennings, Greg Dennis, Calvin Talford, Tim Smith, Zakee Wadood, Jerald Fields, Courtney Pigram, Mike Smith, Dillion Sneed) and develop them. The only issues I can remember until the last two years have been Tiras Wade (who tried to choke a teammate under DeChellis, he was off his anti-depression meds), and Rodney English.
Knowing who his dad was, and what he meant to UAB I know it's tough for you guys. Hell, his dad was a big part of ETSU behind the scenes. One of my all time favorite memories was seeing Wimp Sanderson, Sonny Smith and Gene Bartow ALL together talking basketball and watching ETSU play.
That said, our defense stinks, we can't run an offense, and now the off court issues keep mounting. Very, very aggravating to see. It's like he's lost focus.

I think the part where you said that his dad was a big part of ETSU behind the scenes, may be the answer.

You want ammo. He's been your coach longer than he was ours, which was over a decade ago. You should have all the ammo you need. Take your whining somewhere else.

Disciplinary issues don't seem to bother most folks as long as your winning.
