Stating the obvious...
I know McGee is the offensive guru and all, but if we're ever going to turn things around, we're going to have to make major improvement on the defensive side. We've given up 42 points or more in six games this year, including against some pretty bad offenses.

How many games have we put up big yardage (at this point, we have 609 yards today) and even big points, and lost?

Something's gotta change...

This must be a point of emphasis in the offseason. A healthy AB and JP are both capable. But we aren't going to win games giving up 40+ points.

As the commentators said, when they spoke to coach McGee, the recruiting emphasis is on speed. The players committed seem to fit that bill. Also they mentioned the freshman wall. I think some of them did hit this as some have received fewer snaps over the past few weeks.

Stache sounded happy on the post game. Almost too happy. Lets hope we have a good offseason and a good start to 2013 down in condom country.

Absolutely. I wonder though, as kind of an after-the-fact exercise, at our level of BCS, schools recruit to positions when they can, but they also have to take a lot of raw talents and convert them for offense or defense. Typically a coach will go nearly 100% one direction.

Our previous staff clearly recruited very well for the OLine, WRs, and RBs, but I seem to remember a number of kids during each class having a profile that said they were likely to play DB or LB for us. Did those "projects" have a habit of flaming out? Maybe the change at DC, compared to OC, set us back a bit (not saying we should have kept Schumann - we should have fired all of them after the 4th year - just asking about the impact)? It's also hard to overlook the fact that the guy in charge of recruiting Alabama was an offensive coach...and did a good enough job to be retained by McGee.

Just too many DBs, again this year, looking 6" shorter and 2 strides slower than opposing WRs.
