Yup. That is true. It would be fascinating to know all of what "almost" happened with conference alignment, over the years.

It's going to depend on how badly the ACC gets raided. I have my druthers, but I'm fine, whatever happens. Life is too short to let it bother me.

FYI:
It looks like South Florida is the leading candidate to fill that spot in the ACC. If and only if they choose to fill it.

Thats according to Insider from ESPN

I just read the Insider, and didn't see that. I see where UL, UC and USF are all being considered, along with UConn, for the 14th, spot, but nowhere does it say USF is the leading candidate, that I can find.

Honestly, as long as the triumvirate stays together I'll be happy with the conference.

What would the meltdown in louisville be like if USF was admitted to the ACC and they weren't?

I wouldn't wish that kind of resentment on anyone.

... well, some UL fans, maybe.

No chance that happens, if it does that means at least 1 Florida school is departing the ACC which will lead to further Big East invites.

We can play you OOC if it means that much to you but we're looking for the next challenge and we're not going to find it in the "new Big East".

You may not find it in the new ACC either. Especially if Memphis and Cincy are brought in to fill major losses.

There is an update:
The source also mentioned that the conference may be looking at alternative programs. South Florida fits quite well in the league's footprint and is believed to be one of the options that could eventually be considered.

It might. If this realignment gets out of hand and Texas goes to the SEC or PAC it could happen. There was some talks about a year or two ago when some of the Big 12 school looked like they were about to be left. It would have been a great basketball conference with the likes of Kansas, Louisville, Cincinnati, Memphis, Kansas State, Baylor, and others.

Are you talking about ESPN's Insider College Football Rumor Central? I just checked again. Nothing like that there. Last post says VT and SEC might have mutual interest, but didn't think anything would happen with them.
