Could this happen?
This stuff is getting crazy but the more I read the more I think this scenario could happen. With the SEC and Big Ten Networks and the amount of money they are going to generate, i can easily see a powerplay by the two for the east coast. This is what I see happening:
Big Ten goes after Virginia and North Carolina to get to 16. The problem is that I dont see UNC and Duke splitting up so they go as a package deal and the Big Ten decides to take Ga Tech and go to 18 teams.
The SEC gets NC State and Va Tech.
Florida State and Clemson go to the Big 12. I think the Big 12 could stick with 12 or could take Louisville and Pittsburgh to help with an Eastern division.
That leaves the remnants of the Big East and ACC to merge to form a conference that looks like this:
Boston College
Syracuse
UConn
Wake Forest
Cincinnati
Miami
Memphis
USF
UCF
Temple
Houston
SMU
Notre Dame*
Georgetown*
Villanova*
St. Johns*
The key to all this madness is Notre Dame. Can the ACC convince them to go all in and possibly save the conference? And if they do would that put a stop to all this nonsense? This could be a big factor.

it amazes me that so many blame the hybrid status of the BE for all its woes yet think a hybrid acc would be a good solution
