Bowl Scenerios
Can somebody please update me on all the SBC teams chances on making a bowl. Please include, what each team needs to go to a bowl, who's left on their schedule, and who needs what teams to win/lose.
Thanks y'all, and best of luck to everybody still in the hunt!

Four teams (WKU, ULM, ASU, MT) are bowl eligible.

Troy and Louisiana each need one win.

Troy plays ASU and MT.

UL plays WKU, USA and FAU

RE: Bowl Scenerios
WKU, ULM, MTSU and stAte have the needed 6 wins.

USA, FAU, and FIU are eliminated.

North Texas is out with one loss - left to play ULM and WKU

ULL needs one win - left to play: WKU, USA and FAU
Troy needs one win - left to play: stAte and MTSU

Prediction: Sun Belt will have 5 Bowl Eligible teams - ULL will qualify, Troy and UNT will not.

UNT and Troy have an uphill battle it looks like, but both have played very well at times this season. Things look good for UL closing with USA and FAU.
Such a good year for SBC, one of many more to come!!

I'm no homer by any means but I do think Troy will get to six wins and possibly win out and get to seven.

Our offense is on fire so if our defense shows up at all we could do it.

Another article about bowl eligibility, and I found what Wright Waters has been up to.

If our offense keeps doing what it's been doing in the last couple games we will be
7-5 by seasons end I have no doubt.

In a recent radio interview with WKU AD, he basically said WW didn't help WKU at all last year trying to get bowl game. Said they felt like they were on an island and didn't even let them know the status of the other SBC teams getting bowl games. He was a worthless commish.

He said Benson has been awesome keeping them up-to-date and helping all SBC teams. I like the way Benson stays out in front of media promoting SBC.

I call BS.

WKU announcing 500 commitments to any bowl precluded anything working out. Hell all the AD had to do was read the posts here. ASU to Mobile was obvious as was Louisiana to New Orleans. The only thing in serious play was St Pete and that outcome was obvious.

I agree, you had to be living under a rock to not know what the bowl picture looked like last year.

RE: Bowl Scenerios
Perfect scenario that we should be shooting for is, Troy and UL both get eligible giving us 6 eligible teams, and hope that all bowl slots aren't filled, then also hope that TxSt ends up running the table to finish the season which isn't as far fetched as one might imagine considering the most difficult game they have on the schedule is Navy and have 2 games they should be favored in against UTSA and NMSU. Best case scenario for the conference could be 6 current, and 1 future conference member bowling this year while the 2 teams leaving the conference don't go. Imagine for a second that this conference could possible have a group of teams next year that has 7 of our 10 members coming off bowl games. This would be monumental.

With that, Arkstfan can confirm this, but having 6 current teams bowl eligible that will give us a 4 year average of 4.25 teams bowl eligible per season and open us up to negotiate primary bowl tie ins for an additional 2 bowls, something that wouldn't be available without the additional bowl eligible teams.

Fan, I know you like WW, but his fat, lazy ass did nothing to promote the conference or any of the teams in it. It was his JOB to promote every school in the conference who was eligible, regardless of the circumstance. He was a miserable failure, and the best thing he ever did for the Sun Belt was to resign.

RE: Bowl Scenerios
VO, I have been critical of the tv deal for years but I don't let my fandom color my opinion.

Until just recently we signed the max number of allowed bowls.

Let's inject some truth here. Since the current commissioner was hired the MAC has signed back-up deals with three ESPN bowls (B'ham, St. Pete, New Mexico) and the Heart of Dallas. Waters allowed the Detroit deal to expire but Benson didn't try to get it back, which is the right decision. They come up short they have no choice but take us so why lock a higher team in there. BUT, if the MAC could sign those deals in August, why couldn't our new commissioner do the same?

At the end of the day. A commissioner can call all he wants but if you aren't selling tickets you are going to the bottom of the list and our history as a league is that NO school sold more than 5,000 tickets through their ticket office prior to last year. THAT IS TERRIBLE. But it is a school issue not the league office.

Would be cool to run the table, no doubt we should take care of business against utsa & NMSU . . . Navy at Annapolis, would love to Win it, just not sure that we're there yet . . . especially coming off an emotional loss to La Tech . .. . I just don't know if this team will bounce back and give the same type effort they did against La. Tech, or if they'll be "flat" on the road . . . . . If the Offense that played La Tech shows up, we got a legit shot . . . GO SBC!
