WOW.

As a fan of both Star Wars and Pixar I have to drool at the thought of say Brad Bird directing a Star Wars movie. HOLY COW. That could be the movie we dreamed of when they announced the prequels.

I was thinking similar thoughts today when I heard the announcement. The franchise has a great potential for this generation with the right players.

So many great stories to be told in that universe....

The whills, the hunting of the jedi, the further adventures of Han, Luke and Leia. I think the Pixar folks are the best story tellers in Hollywood right now. I would love to see them turned loose on Star Wars.

Could there be a Star Wars themed park in Orlando????

When Lucas made Star Wars in the 70's he was young, hungry, and not that far removed from the age group that the movie was targeting.

When he made the prequels he brought the sensibilities of a 60ish year old man. The prequels were lacking in passion. They were about politics... the humor was what a 60 yo man thinks that a kid thinks is funny.

Lucas said that the prequels were the same as the originals but they were not. Not even close.

There is a whole generation of young filmmakers out there that grew up loving Star Wars. Many of them are very talented and I suspect that quite a few of them understand what made Star Wars great better than Lucas himself.

Making the prequels was not a bad idea. It was just poorly excecuted. Making more Star Wars movies is not a bad idea... it just has to be excecuted well. There are plenty of directors out there that could knock this out of the park that will be chomping at the bit to do this. When directors get to do thier dream projects it tends to be great.

This is the best thing that could happen to Star Wars. If George had turned over some control to the prequels and made more of a collaborative effort as he did with the first two then they could have been much stronger than they were.

I can't wait to see how this turns out.

I for one actually like the idea of Disney owning Lucasfilm. At least they will do something with it. Star wars episodes 1,2,and 3 stunk it up. Let Disney go ahead and just reboot the whole damn thing. As long as they stick to the general story. I'm good with it.

I hope that Gungans are the central focus of all Star Wars movies moving forward.

But if God lets the series die then those of us that want to see the new movies wouldn't get to see them. Where as if you just ignore them then we could.
