Jedi Justin Beiber and Princess Hanna Montana???
.... Disney will butcher this thing but whatever, most fans will probably disregard 7-9

Good business for Disney, wonder how long they have been trying to get their hands on that.

After what Disney did with The Avengers, you have to have some positive hope.

At the beginning of Episode 7, Luke steps out of the shower, revealing that Episodes 1-3 were just a dream.

I daresay if Lucas had merely been a "creative consultant" on the prequel films, they would have been a lot better. IMO, this is good news. I have a new hope, so to speak.

IDK, basically if you have already set out 4-6 first then go back to make 1-3 you have to have some stuff covered so you can tie into the 4 you already did.

I think the prequels were ok considering the time difference in going back to them. Attack of the Clones was the best one. My only beef with 1 was Darth Maul going out like a ***** at the end. My beef with 3 was it had to end a certain way and the had to tie up certain story elements before the "closed" the story.

I'd much prefer the GA Thrawn series or the Yuuzhan Vong series. With the YV series, you at least will see some closure to main characters we've come to know.

I love the "Heir to the Empire" series (Thrawn is one of my favorite villains especially after playing TIE Fighter) but there is no way you are going to get the original cast to do their roles in a new film. They would need to recast nearly the whole cast and I am not sure they can do that and keep people happy. Still if it allow them to do that series I would accept it personally.

The Heir to the Empire trilogy would have to be animated. The time has passed on Harrison Ford being able to reprise his role. The current Clone Wars animated show has demonstrated there are talented voice actors that can make their characters their own.

Curious timing for the announcement, in the midst of Superstorm Sandy Fever to make sure it will be little noticed.

I also see that the deal includes the Indiana Jones franchise. I guess that there will be more movies, although I can't imagine how much worse that could be than what that last crap.

A reliable source has told me that Episode 7 will be a tie in with the Alien and Predators franchises. Star Wars Episode VII: Vader vs Alien vs Predator

What would be the point of that? It still made the headlines. If they didn't want attention then why release a statement?

Well, the new Star Tours is pretty bad ass so I'm gonna give them a chance.

No clue. The Mouse knows media, and could have dominated a news cycle instead of just making a few entertainment-section headlines. Would seem to be a story they would want to give major play.

RE: OT: Disney Buying Lucasfilm
I read today that Lucas said the new trilogy was to take place a couple of generations after Return of the Jedi. That would put Luke, Leia and Han around the age they are now. That's probably more realistic. The SW universe has expanded so much that they basically have thousands of characters and storylines to choose from. Keep the movies as Skywalker family related and the TV shows can have the rest, including the storylines with the books. Even if the movies take place two generations after Return of the Jedi, they can follow the rise of any characters that occurred between them in other TV shows. Disney will make their $4 billion investment back and then some...a LOT of some.
