But they have a bigger tv market than App State so there is no choice.

I'm not sure there are any SBC advocates of Lamar inclusion at this point.

I agree...heck, that looks like quite a few SBC stadiums at kickoff for some of our games.

No. Some playing devil's advocate, but none full on saying that we should take them.

I just wish we'd save the conference addition conversation for the off season when we have nothing better to talk about...

I know some of you are saying that it's the same with FIU and Georgia State which may be true, but the last thing we need is another FIU or Georgia State attendance-wise. I mean no offense to Georgia State. I'm speaking only of attendance, which I'm sure with some work will be increased.

Conference re-alignment means as much to some people as the actual Saturday games these days. The re-alignment talk isn't going away anytime soon. Good or bad, that's just the game these days.

You guys should convince CUSA to add them...it will help us all out in the long run. UNT gets another winnable game against a Texas team, which their fans beg for, and the SBC gets another reason to laugh at CUSA.

Seems fair to me.

You're averaging barely 20k and you popped a massive 14k this week. There are like 5 mid major conference schools averaging over 29k year in and year out. If you lose your attendance will suck.

I think the issue that many have with Ga State isn't that our attendence is so great, its that there's a difference between an announced attendence of 17k or so with 14-15k in the stands and having less than 7k in the stands. You aren't the worst offender this year (that would be FIU).

The other issue is that GSU appears to be performing poorly in attendence and football success (although you did play JMU tough last week and beat USA last year) compared to similar schools in similar situations (such as USA, UTSA, ODU etc.).

Beat ODU this week and a lot of the b*tching will die off. But you still need to figure out a way to get some of your students and fans to the games.

The only one of those programs that is playing lights out right now on and off the field is ODU. Of course it helps that their stadium holds less than 20k and that other than CAA league games they have not played anyone. But they ARE playing lights out and their Athletic Dept is lights out off the field. UTSA is falling back to earth and may only win 1 or 2 more games. Helps that they have played nobody but the WAC and FCS and Div II schools,. Their attendance is also dropping like a stone. USA isnt performing any better than us although they got up for this past weekend's game and earned a moral victory. Its just funny to me hear people who have built bran new on campus palaces that they cant sell out even once talk about a school that is in its 3rd year of football after they have played for 100 years. We're losing. People arent coming to games. There were no less than 3k students in the Brown Lot for Homecoming the week before last as I walked into the Dome 20 mins after kickoff. There were about 1000 in the parking lot partying 40 minutes after the game ended. Once the coaching hire is made and the staff is in place the turnaround will begin. This staff has lost the season ticket holder base as well as the student body.

I hear you. I think the larger point is that USA and UTSA don't need 'turnarounds' at this point. UTSA still has good attendence and has a win over a FBS team (actually 2 if you include USA). USA is drawing over 15k (butts in the seats - not announced) fans to each of its games, even though we're losing (moral victories are still losses). We're not getting blown away by the Belt and we actually have a conference win. Yes, I understand that USA had the luxury of growing its program slower than GSU, but it seems that this years' GSU program has taken a step back. And with the search for a new coach, I'm afraid you're going to waste a recruiting year this year. You guys really need to find a new HC quick and make the right choice.

Congrats on the good game against JMU last week. Hopefully you guys can build on that this week against ODU.

There will not be a wasted recruiting year. We have 9 commits as we speak. Fortunately the lame duck staff is able to sell academics, facilities and the city. Actually I am hoping the new staff makes us JUCO-U for the next 2 years and that we redshirt most of the freshmen signees

If you guys could actually beat ODU, it would literally make your year.
Saw in one of the ODU articles that GaSt has over the FCS limit in schollys so maybe you've got a chance.
Good luck.
