RE: Congrats USA
Not to mention some uncalled FAU holding. No point in arguing about Belt refs, for every bad call you disagree with, the refs prolly let you get away with two others.

RE: Congrats USA
There are usually several holds on both sides that go uncalled in a game that could technically be called. That is expected. But there was one VERY obvious hold happen right in front the line judge that didn't get called. The FAU defender was pulling on our defender's jersey so much we could see his shoulder pads from the stands. It blew me away that it didn't get called because it was literally right in front of the ref.

I believe FAU got called for a few pass interferences against ULM the week before. Coach Pelini said something of the nature that SBC refs may not be used to seeing CBs play as "physically" as he coaches his to be. He said that Nebraska had a similar issue when they entered the Big 10.

I didn't see the game, so I have no idea what happened. I do know that SBC refs are the worst, so I'm sure there were a fair amount of awful calls for everyone. All that matters is FAU had a 2 TD lead with 6 minutes left and blew it. There's no excuse for that...bad calls or not.

Congrats USA. Your team is making strides every week. I wouldn't mind you guys reverting back to your losing ways this weekend though. 03-wink

That would be more like a long jump, but I dream of winning the lottery one day too.

First time I've really logged on since the loss. That was a heartbreaker for FAU fans.

Our guys made mental errors and USA capitalized on therm.

I HAVE no idea WTH is goign on with our FG unit. 3 Blocked kicks in ONE game is horrific.

Congrats on the win.

Thanks.

I think the 3 blocked FGs were due to two things.

1) We REALLY work on that. We have quite a few blocked FG's in the short history of our program.

2) Weren't yall breaking in a new kicker? I thought I read that your usual kicker quit the team.

Heck of a game.
I still don't really have my voice back.

Even with breaking in a new kicker 3 blocked FG in one game is just insane.

William Dukes was frustrated to the point of tears after the game. With 2 PI's one on play, commited by 2 different players (one wasn't even near the ball) and a missed intentional grouding all on the same drive, it's easy to understand why players and fans are upset. Going into ULM, FAU was THE LEAST PENALIZED TEAM in the SBC, and that's with playing at UGA and at Bama. The SBC refs also didn't throw to many flags against us when we played Wagner and North Texas, but yet when we play the mighty Warhawks, the flags came raining down. It makes no sense how all of a sudden flags are thrown every play when we've had the same stye of D from game 1.

I know the grounding play you're talking about. And honestly, I thought the same thing. But it was quickly pointed out to me that the ref was pointing to a WR in the area, which is why it wasn't called. Our QB was clearly just getting rid of the ball, but was lucky enough to throw it remotely close to a WR to avoid the call. Legit no call.

And on those 2 PI's, I think one of them was a hold coming out of the route, and the other near the point of reception, which is how you had two on one play, with one so far away from the ball.

Regardless, frankly, we deserved a few breaks. This is the first game all season where the breaks actually went our way. And even then, it wasn't until the 4th quarter. We were beside ourselves when we blocked the first FG only to fumble it back to FAU on the return.

Really tough loss for you guys, no doubt. FAU looked much better than I anticipated, and I really thought that both sides of your line did a great job all game long.

It sucks, because we were thinking the same thing. Hence the ourpouring of emotion Saturday night, when nothing has gone our way the past 2 years.
I really like what y'all are doing over there in Mobile. Safe to say USA is now one of my favorite SBC teams (which means you're one of my favorite teams, period lol). I hope y'all have a good crowd next year here in Boca. You're the only regional SBC rival we have left, until GSU joins. I'm excited for the future of this series, as well as both of our programs and univeristies. Go SBC!

RE: Congrats USA
TO FAU fans:

Like many other posters have stated who actually SAW the game (vs listening to homer radio announcers like our own, for instance), the officiating sucked as is unfortunately the case with SBC refs in general. OTOH, the reffing didn't determine the outcome of the game, IMHO. It was equally appalling for both squads and the calls and non-calls (ESPECIALLY the latter) were puzzling to say the least. Again, great game FAU. I know the final score didn't go your way but it was one of the best games I've ever seen as far as heart, determination, excitement & effort go. Believe me, the Owls didn't have a single ounce of "quit" in their veins and I STILL cannot believe y'all have only won one game this year. Your QB, O-line and receiving corp is absolutely DANGEROUS!!!!

RE: Congrats USA
Same can go for USA! Not quitting when down by that much with that little amount of time when the season has gone the way it has for y'all, is very VERY admirable! Y'all have every reason to be proud of you'r squad.
Do I wish the refs didn't suck, of course. But at the end of the day, the refs didn't give up 14 points in 5 mins, the refs didn't call run after run to try to run down the clock, and the refs didn't black 3 FG's. Jaguars won this game fair and share, as much as it hurts us in Boca. Naturally, Saturday night and Sunday were both very low points, and if you take a look at our message board (fauowlsnest.com) things have gotten very personal. It's just been one of the stretches where you find out who's true and who's not.

Thanks!

Same can be said for USA, too. Over half the crowd gave up on our Jags and weren't onhand to see the incredible comeback. We TRUE Jags fans, however; were there to see it.
