Real attendance problems
We are always talking attendance numbers, but we don't have problems with attendance. The UFL has attendance problems. Last nights game had 2,234 in attendance, and this is a league that is trying to make money at this. Most people don't even know this league exist, and why is that, because their TV deal is with CBS Sports, the same network that has C-USA football. You want to be seen, CBS Sports is not the place to be.

I don't think it's CBS sports as much as no one gives two dumps about the UFL

And the CUSA
All they care about is their big $$ generators (the big time SEC teams [LSU, UF, Bama, Auburn, USC, Tenn] and the big time AFC teams [New England, New York, Pittsburgh, Denver])
Can't say I don't blame them, just like how ESPN only cares about the SEC, ACC, BE, NBA, NFL, regular season MLB, while they give nothing on the smaller conferences and the NHL.
Sadly, it's just the state of the game.

From what I hear, the UFL transitioning into a spring league. I never understood why they decided to play in the fall like the NFL and college football, no one is going to tune in to your games when they can watch much better football.
Now, with a spring schedule, they may be able to get some eyeballs to pay attention. They'll need a better TV deal with a channel most people can get without paying for a special sports package.
I watched the first 2 seasons of the UFL on HDnet and enjoyed it. There are some good players in the league and when there wasn't another game on it was nice to be able to get my football fix. I really hope they can keep it going, it is perfect for guys who need some more tape to show NFL and CFL clubs, and also for solid players who get cut or just drift around in the FA market.

The USFL is also trying to start up in the spring. They have already announced that it won't be this year are they are trying for 2014. They are wanting to work with the NFL and basically be a minor league and feeder league for the NFL. We'll see if either make it.

The UFL tried very hard to be a feeder league for the NFL, but they said they weren't interested. The UFL would be my choice of a spring minor league group, they have been around for a while and have some history now. Add some teams, get a better TV deal, and get the NFL on board. That'd be awesome.
