Watched ESPN NEWS today and almost went thru the TV. Some jack leg summarizing MT win over GT as a GT loss to MT, an FCS school.

I am getting almost as aggravated with ESPN's stupidity as I am the presidential race. If your not in one of the so called AQ conference, they don't report on you and have no clue who you are.

Non power 6 fbs is the term that should be used.

With a name like Middle Tennessee State what do you expect to happen? We need to accept it, the SBC, CUSA, MWC and WAC might as well be. Oh, and the Big Least.

Have said for a long while now that it gives the impression of a 1aa/fcs, and that is one of many reasons a name change is needed.

I have an open dialogue with the President on this issue. I have forwarded these comments to him.

Do you see Boise State being called an FCS school? Not now, but before they were good they used to be called that too.

I have tried explain this to people on boards like this, they can't seems to get it through their thick skulls. Outside of fans of SBC, CUSA and other lower conferences, very few people know the delineation between lower FBS teams and FBS teams, the fact that Espn pros don't know makes this even more clear

As far as ESPN is concerned, they are alot of what wrong with sports in general. They are a great outlet but have cause alot more problems with it. They need to be better at what they do when it comes to the talking heads.

They still list WKU as W Kentucky and suggest we play in the OVC when you look up info on their nfl draft page. Super!

Hey, I enjoyed it when Wright Waters said "Western Kensucky" on his "Ask The AD" video.

WKU fans were fuming.

I think the ESPN issue is twofold:
1)ESPN goes with analysts that are almost strictly former players and coaches which is decent sometimes but some of the choices should never be in front of a camera and have trouble articulating their thoughts. (read Matt Millen for example).
2)Sportscenter has been skewing towards on air talent that is more focused on being broadcasters with recent former SC hosts moving to gigs on Access Hollywood and Good Morning America. These hosts are not very knowledgeable on sports (especially fringe sports and any college sports not from the Big 6 conferences). The older former anchors like Dan Patrick, Rich Eisen, Charlie Steiner, etc moved on to other sports jobs and seemed to be very knowledgeable in a variety of sports. The anchors now seem to be using the exposure to springboard to more new/entertainment gigs. Just my two cents on the issue.
Last thought, do not even get me started on the desperate attempts by anchors to use horrible horrible catchphrases. That is more depressing than anything.
