I was surprised LaTech wasn't closer to being ranked. I thought the win over Virginia would vault them in. I don't see them beating Texas A&M though... even though LaTech has a very good team, Texas A&M is not like any other team they've faced.. at all

I think its great for their program. WKUs other wins came Austin Peay, a winless Southern Miss, and Arky State. I think if WKU can keep winning, they will definitely deserve it, just not yet.

And? Arkansas would probably lose to Kentucky this year but ULM has votes....Not trying to dis ULM. just going by what your saying.....

Listen, I'd love for a Sun Belt team to be ranked, and if ULM or WKU win the rest of their games, then I think they deserve the ranking. The reason ULM has votes is because of how they beat Arkansas (highly ranked at the time), and how played both Baylor (nearly beat WVU) and Auburn (almost beat LSU). Unfortunately, it matters who you play and how you play them.

I think when you try to extrapolate out to your opponents "close losses" you are really starting to reach. WKU isn't going to get any more recognition because Kentucky hung with South Carolina for a while and and discussing what Auburn did in hopes of helping make a case for ULM is just ridiculous. Now you're discussing the close loss of an opponent you had a close loss to, that is an extreme reach. If LSU played the Jacksonville Jaguars and hung around for a while and lost by 21(not saying they would, even the worst NFL team would throttle the best college team, I'm just trying to make an argument) would you be saying "well ULM nearly beat Auburn who nearly beat LSU, who played a competitive game against the Jags? Where does it stop?

Unfortunately, in a Bowl ranking system that's what happens. It isn't right, but until you can make every team play every other team somehow, you have to consider who they've played and how they've played them.

It's just part of the college game.

No, I really don't think it does happen. It does to an extent of teams you beat and then who've they've beaten, but when it's a team you lost to and/or you're evaluating them in games they lost...it just doesn't work that way and I really don't think voters think that way.
