"replica" helmets - nothing to get excited about
So... These "Replica" helmets aren't anything to get excited about unfortunately. Here's a picture tweeted showing some individuals wearing them.

Laaame. I wasn't expecting $80 helmets, but plastic rather than paper would have made me excited. I was expecting a wearable, plastic replica rather than this crap. I went from being excited to not caring at all.

And I replied almost the same exact thing as you just did in that other thread, at the same time. Haha

I love WMU, but this ranks right up there with the "huge announcement" during hockey season that ended up being a dud.

I'm waiting for Ashton Kutcher to post on this thread and inform us that we've been punked.

LOL, who were the marketing geniuses that came up with this one. I was expecting something plastic as well that you could later display on a desk with a sense of pride. These will more likely be torn apart by the end of the game and left on the bleachers for the cleaning crew to deal with.

The cleaning crew is gonna have their hands full sunday morning.

I applaud the marketing dept. for trying to do something. But this is not the answer.

This, haha...

I was actually excited to see the whole student section wearing plastic replica helmets at kickoff. Would have been really unique. This crap is so lame.

The inflatable helmets would even have been slightly cooler than paper. When I first heard "replica" I was thinking more along the lines of the Franklin costume helmets:

But I guess 5,000 of those would have been pricy if Adidas wasn't willing to help offset the cost of them, which I assume they were asked about.

RE: "replica" helmets - nothing to get excited about
WTF is that? How ridiculous. The new helmets and uniforms went from cool to super embarrassing after seeing this. OK, the actually player helmets and unis are sweet, but does the marketing dept or whoever came up with this lame @$$ idea really think people are A: going to like these and B: going to wear them?

At least when they decided to do thunder sticks for the first 20 times, they had a use and a point. These are just plain stupid.

WMU Marketing at its best. No wonder people dont come to the games and nobody takes us seriously. \

Embarrassing!!!!!!

Hell, I would have been fine with the little NFL replica style helmets they gave out in 50 cent machines at Meijer back in the day over those.

You do have a chance to win a real helmet. See this video http://www.tout.com/m/uw968n?ref=twkoh2dw

"Like this helmet? If we get 1,000 retweets of this video using #winthishelmet all who do are eligible to win it. Pretty sweet, now retweet. http://www.tout.com/m/uw968n?ref=twipvf2a"

it would be fantastic if their tweet actually was short enough for a tweet

Just edit their tweet to make it short enough. You don't have to retweet their exact tweet. Just have the hashtag in it.

The Turkey drop that interrupted the game in 93? Was a better idea than this...
