Yup.

There's a big difference between saying "we have speed" and "we have a speed advantage against Alabama". I'm not sure he was actually saying he thinks FAU has better team speed than Alabama or that FAU has better speed than what Bama sees week in and week out on their schedule, but that's kind of the way it comes off.

Did you read the article that was posted? The writer who asked the question admits it put the kid in an unfair spot and thus he didn't run with the story. What else would you expect the player to say? He would be getting killed if he says "we have no shot in this game". This is a non-story.

The guy could not be more complimentary of Alabama. He was asked a question and his answer was "if you have speed you can win". This is hardly the case of a player being cocky or giving bulletin board material.

The fact we're talking about it indicates that "we're going to do our best" would have been better.

IMO, he said nothing out of the way. It's all good.

The fact we're talking about it indicates that "we're going to do our best" would have been better.

That response wouldn't have answered the question that was asked. The question was "What is one area where you can have an advantage in this game?" So you wanted him to answer that with "we are going to try our best"? It seems like some would have rather him say "Advantage?? We have no advantage...they are the best team in the Nation." No player on any team is going to say that if they want to be able to face their teammates ever again.

The problem is that the reporter asked a ridiculous question. Anyone who has a problem with the answer given is a hypocrite, because you all would have had a big problem with one of your players answering that question truthfully.

I read both articles. The FAU blogger and the yahoo blog he linked. I didn't get one sense of condescension from the kid. The blogger(s) that ran with it had the sole intention of creating a stir. They cherry-picked the hell out of his comments.

That's what Yahoo does. They are classless, and I dislike them like no other.

I threw in a comment on the Yahoo! blog that got deleted within 30 seconds. I talked about how they did this solely to drum up controversy and that there's a reason Graham Watson is not longer with ESPN and that if she thought I was unfairly representing her she can come argue her point. She didn't like that too much. If I had a sunstantial sports blog I'd write an article about Graham Watson. If you can talk about players, you can talk about other journalists.

ARE YOU SERIOUS? This was freaking GRAHAM WATSON?!? She's the same one that wrote that stupid damn article about Miami. I disliked her quite a bit after that and this is just another thing over the line... Like I said for that, "what a joke".

Cory is getting abused on Twitter for saying "they can be beat." He never once said WE WILL or even WE CAN beat Bama. All he said is that they can be beat, and IF FAU has one advantage it would be speed. I can't believe people are so offended by a young man saying the obvious that a team simply CAN be beat. Last time I checked, nobody and nothing is truly PERFECT except for God and Jesus Christ. Therefor, ANYBODY AND ANYTHING can be beat. I'm not saying it will happen by us, or anybody else this season. But attacking a young man for saying a fact is so low. I've lost respect for a lot of fans at Bama and whatever respect I had left for the national media.
Next time, I'll make sure the players say "can't wait to get our asses handed to us this weekend" when soebody asks them a question about an upcomming game.

And the only classless thing going on here has been the amount of Bama PLAYERS, yes PLAYERS, talking smack to Cory and the rest of the team on Twitter.
