I am not criticizing WKU for landing this kid, just wondering if he is going to WKU because of the open admissions that you guys have.

WKU's "open admissions" are also skewed because of the community college that is considered part of WKU. It's profitable for the university but it cheapens the degree. So unforunate.

how else is ransdell going to pay for all the concrete and bricks if he cuts off the cc?

i coached some kids in youth sports that ended up on south campus. i haven't seen one yet that continued on up to the hill.

i'm sure some have used that first year to get ready and finish college. i get both sides. western is giving kids a year to prove themselves college ready. but i honestly believe it's there just to generate cash. i realize that's cynical but can't help it.

i honestly don't know of one football player we've squirrelled away out there like our cajun friend insists. but if i was willie i would do it if it's available.

i don't really care. when folks turn to arguing bands or academics i tune out. my son graduated from western in '09 and the fact that we have the community college in no way hindered him getting a pretty good job at f.o.l. corporate hq.

WKU does NOT have an open admissions policy into the university, however the community college connected to WKU does have an open admissions policy. The community college is a thorn in the side for many people (myself included). Personally, I wish WKU would spin it off as a completely stand alone entity, however it will probably never happen since it is a "cash cow" for WKU as mentioned above.
