You say they play in a soccer stadium like its a bad thing. FC Dallas stadium>>>Finley stadium.

I've been to the NC game in Frisco the past two years. It's a great environment and there is plenty for visiting fans to do in North Dallas during their trip

I'd kill to have a 40,000 seat version of Sporting Kansas City's soccer stadium.

Agreed, but pride won't allow it.

It's not merely pride, it's that there is no financial benefit for a FBS program to drop to FCS: Idaho would still have so many obligations to fulfill as a NCAA university at the Division I level.

Theoretical use of Washington State's stadium isn't the only thing that might aid Idaho in juggling football independence: Pullman, WA and Moscow, ID also share a regional airport with a regional carrier with several West Coast destinations, including big metros like L.A., Las Vegas, and Seattle.

Another football team doomed by building a small mini-dome for football. That's what ruined East Tennessee State University's football program; that and their state board.

Unless Idaho comes up with the means to build an outdoor stadium, they will never get enough FBS teams to travel there for games without a conference to force those teams to go there.

They have a plan to enlarge their dome up to @ 27,000, but sounds like it would be incredably expensive.

Nice looking facility. Hope they make it. The State of Idaho is a great place and I wish them the best. Why do so many want them to curl up and die?

Some people just want SOMEONE to go down other than their team.

But there are still a lot of people who resent HOW Idaho came into FBS. The 30,000 seat stadium requirement was still in place (you could be I-A by averaging 17,000 over 4 years or once in four years if you had 30,000 seats). Idaho couldn't meet either requirement with 16,000 seats. So they asked for permission to move up by playing one season at Washington State's stadium and then planned to stay I-A under the old conference member rule (be a member of a league where more than half meet requirements) or more implausibly under the old home/away attendance rule (average 20,000 home and away).

The NCAA said nyet.

So Idaho signed a long-term deal to rent Martin Stadium, then as soon as they got everything met, they cancelled the deal and moved back to Kibbie.

Between people being offended that Idaho was playing its home games in Washington (albeit 8 miles from campus) and people offended that they played a little fast and loose with how they qualified for FBS, it has created some animosity.

RE: Idaho Going Independant In Football
Any of you folks rooting the Idaho to stay in FBS want your own team to have to go there to play a game? It isn't an easy trip from any of the Belt schools. More accurately, it saint an easy trip back home as their airport has a short runway and is at a fairly high altitude. That means a charter can't take off with enough fuel to get to Texas, Arkansas, or another place the Belt has a school. It isn't just the size of the Kibbie dome that is a problem!
