Boise St getting cold feet?
I'm seeing threads on CUSA and Memphis boards saying that Boise may be staying in the MWC.
??

RE: Boise St getting cold feet?
Its because Boise St is going to have to shell out millions to leave the MWC and also the fact that the MWC may pick up a automatic BCS bid. So why leave and pay all the money for nothing if the MWC will pick up the only thing that makes the Big East more attractive?

Auto bids are history with the new system.
It was $2.5 million or so if they announced before midnight tonight. Monday, that exit fee goes to $7 million or so.

Makes sense. Even though would have liked to have seen them stay out.

I wonder if this will cause the MWC to invite NMSU?

RE: Boise St getting cold feet?
The only way NMSU gets invited is if the Big East creates an opening (Air Force, Fresno State, etc.), and the MWC basically concedes it will not get UTEP. UTEP would likely need 2 other additions from the state of Texas to join the MWC. The MWC has little reason to go to 12 because the Hawaii exemption already guarantees half its membership will be playing 13 games.
If the Big East invites both Air Force and Fresno State, they simply replace Idaho and NMSU in the WAC. If Boise State hasn't made its way to the Big West by then, perhaps they can convince San Diego State to leave the Big West for the WAC. Adding CSU-Bakersfield and Utah Valley gets the WAC to eight in all sports.
MWC - Hawaii (football only), San Jose State, Idaho, Utah State, Nevada, UNLV, Wyoming, Colorado State, New Mexico, NMSU
WAC - San Diego State, Fresno State, CSU-Bakesfield, Seattle, Boise State, Utah Valley, Air Force, Denver
Big East Football (Red/Blue - pairings indicate permanent crossover games)
San Diego State/Fresno State
Boise State/Brigham Young
Temple/Navy
Houston/Southern Methodist
South Florida/Central Florida
Rutgers/Connecticut
Louisvlle/Memphis
Cincinnati/Air Force

RE: Boise St getting cold feet?
There is still a lot to play out in all of this with the Big East..
1) Does Notre Dame accept a FB only offer from the B12?
2) If ND does accept a FB only offer from the B12 that may result in a #12 being taken from either the Big East or ACC.
3) If Florida State leaves for the B12 that might result in UConn joining the ACC from the Big East.
4) The Big East loses 2 more valuable schools it may prompt the football schools to split off.
Its going to be one more year before enough has been decided to say conclusively what the final format of the BE will look like.
