Well the Cajuns have Florida, Okie State, Tulane and Lamar as OOC opponents, so I guess it doesn't say much for the Sunbelt huh?

I'm not worried about strength of schedule, wins get you to a bowl game. What good is strength of schedule do you if you are sitting at home during bowl season?04-rock

The supposed "top" of the league has some of the softest schedules to play. I find that rather interesting...

I dont think it really matters...You still have to play the SBC teams which is what really matters....Honestly Id rather have FIU's schedule they have a better change of going undefeated and building the program so they get stronger....Although I still want Mississippi State at home!04-rock

Well, you guys can't count a scrimmage against yourselves so you don't get to count against your schedule like you do against us.

Is there a bowl game for programs with losing records and a great strenght of schedule? I guess if that gets them through the winter than more power to them! Otherwise, its just board smack for fans that are sitting at home watching a conference mate playing in a bowl game.04-rock

Who does MT have again? McNeese State and Memphis State bring our SOS down... Other than that we play GT and Mississippi State.

You know there were about 42,000 of us debating that at the New Orleans bowl...Dammit, for the life of me we could not come up with an answer as to why that is... Did y'all debate that as well?? In Monroe?? At home?? Once again??

The supposed "top" of the league has some of the softest schedules to play. I find that rather interesting...

The decision for these Sun Belt programs is difficult: Play the money games against top teams or play lower level BCS conference teams/top mid majors?

FIU has chosen to play teams that will reciprocate and play at FIU. Thus, we scheduled Louisville, Duke, and UCF. In 2010 FIU played Texas A & M (they will come to Miami in 2013 with any luck). Each team agreed to a home and home series. The advantage is that FIU has a better shot at winning (especially at home). The other factor is more of a "perceived" factor. That is, over time FIU will be perceived as a top mid major program, and not a sacrificail lamb that needs the money.

Of course, this FIU decision means less revenue for a young program with no big alumni contributors. Pick your poison. I, for one, am glad that FIU went the route of playing the "easier" schedule, and getting Louisville at home this year. But I do understand that this is not an easy decision. And no matter what route the schools take, it leaves them open to ridicule/challenge by others even if they are only ranked # 76 in difficulty!!! 01-wingedeagle

RE: 2012 College Football Strength Of Schedule
Unless you are competing for a spot in the top bowls, a difficult schedule earns you nothing.
