After losing to Providence tonight, any kid that can actually make shots would be welcome.

Anyone that can make layups and free throws. Which you would think would be easy to find. But apparently it's not

RE: 2014 Basketball Recruiting Thread
Some consider Jared Terrell and Abdul-Malik a package deal, Terrell has stated that UC is one of the schools that has been recruiting him the hardest, mentioning UC first in an interview. Here is an article:

Jared Terrell and Abdul-Malik Abu are not only teammates on Boston’s Expressions AAU team, but both players currently ranked in the top 75 in the Class of 2014.

Both Terrell, a 6-foot-4 shooting guard, and Abu, a 6-foot-8 forward, have offers pouring in and, well, their lists seem a bit similar. Providence, Iowa State, Rutgers, Cincinnati, Rhode Island, Temple. There is a reason for that, it turns out: Terrell and Abu are, more or less, a package deal.

“If a better situation comes along, we might have to part ways,” Terrell told NBCSports.com. “But for now, it’s what we want to do.”

Providence (Ed Cooley, Andre LaFleur), Rhode Island (both Hurley brothers) and Pitt (Brandon Knight) all checked out the duo on Thursday at Hoop Group’s Summer Classic East, a day after programs like Virginia, Virginia Tech (James Johnson), Maryland (Mark Turgeon) and North Carolina (Hubert Davis) gave them a look.

“We don’t want to hold each other back, but I bet we end up together,” Abu, who picked up an offer from Michigan State, said. Terrell also has offers from Miami, St. John’s and UConn.

While it’s unclear — and will be for a while — where these two will end up going to college, one thing that is for certain is that both players are well-schooled on how to handle the summer’s media attention.

Both players said, independently, “my recruitment’s wide-open.”

I think it also depends upon how Kelvin Gaines and Jamaree Strickland develop. If they look like they can hold down the fort Mick will probably elect to add a freshman big rather than go with the JUCO quick-fix.

I still think we'll need at least one experienced big body. Losing JJ, Titus and Narsyuk will be a tremendous strain. Add, in all likelihood, Lawrence, and it looks like a complete rebuild.

RE: 2014 Basketball Recruiting Thread
adding Terrell and Abu would be HUGE for this program. Both look like Great players and would be great assets. They both seem like they play with toughness but also have the athletic and offensive ability UC really needs in players. Terrell said he wants to play in a system that is guard heavy and thats what we are. No more bigs going up weak as it looks like Abu looks to dunk Everything... Keep recruiting these guys hard and another run in the tournament is in our near future

Abu looks like a Hicks or Maxiell type player. A little under sized, big bodied animal. Would love to have him.

Over on Bearcattalk.com. Some guy is saying UC is going to get verbals from 2 to 4 recruits in the next 2 months. One is a package deal according to him.

This isn't exactly new news. I just haven't frequented that board for awhile.

Rumored package deal is obviously Terrell and Abu. Boston College and UC have been in on them the longest. They're good friends and have strongly hinted about going to the same college. Not sure who the other two are rumored to be.

Do we have any chance with Wiley. He's the guy I'd love to get the most in 2014.

Where on the site did it say that? I missed it. Those two would be absolutely huge pickups. Are they rumored to be in good shape with any other guys in that class?

Florida & Kansas offered 2014 SG Jared Terrell, while NC State, Texas & Kansas are offered 2014 PF Abdul-Malik Abu.

Terrel and Abu would be a complete shock at this point.

@Coast2CoastHoop Cincinnati has offered 2014 Saddleback (CA) JUCO point guard Austin Pope.

Austin Pope ‏@ThePope_LOE Thanks to Coach Cronin and his staff at the University of Cincinnati Bearcats on the offer

Pope is a 6'6'' point guard from Compton, CA. He is rated as the #6 JUCO and #1 JUCO PG. Definitely an intriguing prospect. He apparently committed to Louisville last year and planned on walking on and red shirting and playing in 2014.

He has been getting attention from UConn, Marquette, Texas, Georgetown, UCLA, USC, UNLV, California and San Diego State have reached out. Washington State, Oregon State and Colorado have extended a scholarship offer.
