There is a gray helmet with blue facemask and solid blue flying WV. You can see it if u have a Rivals account its posted on the Blue Lot.
That helmet was just a prototype, and there were 2 color schemes being considered. I don't know which one they've approved...

Im not talking about the one they had on there along time ago this one was just posted yesterday from sean mulligans twitter account. The blue and grey without any gold is the supposed official helmet for the gray uni.

I think that the two factors that affect uniforms are apparel companies (and the lust to sell more gear) and video games. I think we're going to see more and more schools move to over-the-top uniforms that help attract prospects.

Phog, you also have to take into account today's society, where everyone is always looking for something new to show off to their friends...

bit, it's making me feel like a fogey. Or a curmudgeon, perhaps. But teams like Oregon and Maryland drive me nuts.

That's because the people making the decisions on what new things to show off have really bad taste at those 2 schools... 07-coffee3

RE: Can Conference Realignment affect Uniforms?
1.) I love the WVU grays. The only slight difference I would make is I would outline the WV on the helmet in gold. That would look better than what they have now, IMHO. Truthfully, I think their helmets from the Backyard Brawl a few years back look better than the new helmets by what can you do?

[Image: 5201572870_b5498cb9b2_o.jpg&sa=X...jebvfeWc9w]

2.) I would LOVE to see Pitt go back to its old dark blue and mustard unis with the script Pitt on the helmet. In fact almost ALL Pitt fans would love to see that. Unfortunately our administration is tone deaf to the issue and refuses to give the fans what they want.

3.) I like those old school ECU unis as well. However I LOVED the matte black helmets with the Pirate skeleton on them. Those were BAD, IMHO - the best ECU has ever had!

[Image: ecuhelmet14copy-2.jpg&sa=X&a...y_voBp1VaA]

4.) Oregon originally went to the whacky unis in the first place because they had no traditional look with which the nation identified. The Ducks program was traditionally a joke so nobody cared about them one way or the other. So their tradition became to be the anti-tradition. Pretty clever marketing approach. However that only works for so long before the whole idea is diluted.

Doesn't Maryland's "outrageous" new look feel a bit derivitive to others? They are the Lady Gaga to Oregon's Madonna. The next one will feel like Ke$ha and it will continue to decline from there.

Gimmickry can only take you so far. It will be the same thing with the colored truf thing. I know Boise is really into that campy bullschitt but with each new school jumping into that same cheesy fad, it becomes less and less unique and therefore less and less interesting. Not surprisingly, Maryland appears headed for that bit of cheesiness as well.

RE: Can Conference Realignment affect Uniforms?
Almost every school take a chance on some form of one-off unis, tradition laden program or not. The treads the UGA wore during their butt-kicking by Boise St. were awful, ND changed their helmets for a night game and even Navy took the field with some type of battleship-derivative concept.

I'm not opposed to change, I thought Army's digital camo unis were apropos and the gray WV's are very well done. But when done for shock value and market research purposes, the entire effort become cheap and pedantic.

While I love the MD Flag endzones, I desperately hope that we don't have a black field.

Okie state, WVU, and UNC shouldn't be wearing gray uniforms. Their classic looks are sharp and look good already. Don't understand the new desire to have uniforms designed by 13 year olds on sugar highs.

I agree. That field looks like someone threw-up on it. Ours might be blue, but it's all one shade. Only POSSIBLE way I see that concept working and not looking like crap is to do the tortise-shell pattern in 2 shades of green, not black and gray. If you do the tortise pattern at all, you can't have the flag-inspired endzones, because frankly, it's just too busy, too much stuff that doesn't complement at all going on (and looks like vomit.)

Either dark/light green tortise-pattern, plain endzones. Or Flag-inspired endzones and regular turf. Looks a lot better.

I don't like our Grays/Steel-colored unis either. Boise State's colors are orange & blue, and we should only ever be seen in unis that are Orange, Blue, or White (standard visitors color)

These are the gray/steel jerseys:

The helmets used in the Georgia game are a big improvement over the regular Boise helmets IMO.

When we busted-onto the scene with the new logo about a decade-ago, the AD said that the 'boise state' script under the primary Bronco mark was 'temporary.' When the 'rounded' logos were released 4 years later, we all clamored for this to be the new helmet-logo.

At this point, the script is totally moot... everyone knows who we are with that outlined, rounded Bronco mark. I agree that it looks better, both blue on the white helmet (road) and white on the blue helmet (home) than the original 'script' version.

One oddity with our rounded-logo helmets: Logo only appears on left-side, and numbers on back of helmet are offset to the back-right corner. They could easily center the number & put a mirrored-version on the right side, too.

I believe the debut of the rounded-logo helmet was white decal on standard blue helmets, in the 2010 Las Vegas Maaco Bowl. Only about 5 years too late, IMO.
