FSU Barron sums it up

http://floridastate.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1373523

"When asked if there was anything to keep an eye on between now and August 15, when FSU would be required to notify the ACC it was leaving, Barron said "No".

"We are not seeking anything, we are not expecting anything, there are no conversations that are going on," Barron said. "But as my board chair (Allan Bense) said, all boards that are responsible would take any opportunity presented and study it. OK, that's not an invitation, that's just a statement of fact."

"Basically this is the way to think about it: We have a happy existence. Like anybody else, we would like to have more money. We have a lot of opportunities for more money. And I said (during the workshop on Thursday), there are a lot of reasons why conference issues are in the news. More money is one of them. Another one, quite frankly, is sort of a feeding frenzy over this particular topic. It gets a lot of people's attentions and they have a lot of opinions. But of course any decision that you make is based on a whole host of things, including comparing apples to apples, not apples to oranges on what the resources are like."

"My personal feeling is that a huge factor has to be conference champions (included in the BCS)," Barron said.

Read between the lines, man. This is clearly the first step in FSU's defection. Denials like those which Barron seems to be continually offering is all about tortious interference.

Its sounds like there is maybe a 50% chance of the B12 doing something in the next year...

That something could be Florida State/Clemson it could be Louisville/Notre Dame.

The money is OK for Florida State in the ACC and ND is HAPPY dominating its band of little catholic schools in the BE for Olympic sports....nothing may happen out of all the rumors.

So in your opinion University Presidents are always forthright during conference expansion discussions?

I am not saying that FSU is about to jump.....and I have no idea if they ever will.....but let me know when know when you hear a unified message out of Florida State that completely silences these rumors. You don't hear anyone talking about Miami and the B12 anymore do you?

I'm not sure whether you're being sarcastic, or giving an honest evaluation. It's hard to tell these days at times...

However, if you were giving an honest assessment, I tend to agree. But I'll believe it when I see the press conference announcing the move. I'm not going to hold my breath...

Yes and no. This isn't a step anywhere. It's not the first step in FSU's defection. It's also not a confirmation that FSU is staying.

It's fog and wind and shadows. It's the fine art of executive speaking-without-giving-information.

Sounds like they're saying if asked we'd say yes. How about the foresight of WVU to jump to the B12?! Id say smart move.

I disagree...it sounds like to me...we'll listen if you talk (stroke our ego)...but we better see a real benefit to leaving...doubt they would leave over a few million...as the cost to leave is so high...they better see a net gain after 4-5 years (tops).
