I don't care if they smoke pot nor should you. We are talking about an herb that helps people heal, rest, and eat. Gee,I wonder if football players could find a use for such a thing.

One thing, it is still "illegal"...be my guess if you "condone" the use of "illegal drugs" by anyone.
Just find it both "Funny in a ironic sense" and "Funny like Lol".

The article talks mostly about players testing positive for pot.
Does anyone ever test positive for steroids or other PEDs? And if no one ever tests positive for steroids or other PEDs, doesn't that tell us that either they're not testing for that or the testing is a joke? In a world of quick 300-pound linemen and 240-pound linebackers, we're supposed to believe that none of them are using PEDs? Yeah, right.

I know nothing about PED's. I do know that eating Marijuana during a bulking cycle helps a great deal. During a bulking cycle. You must take in large amounts of protein. 1 gram of protein per lb of weight that you are per day. Four whey shakes per day is about 100-120 grams of protein. Eating a can of chicken breast or salmon every 3 hours will get another 60-80 grams per day. With all of that you still need to eat 1 egg yolk and 3 egg whites every morning and a large lunch and dinner. See were I'm going with the whole Marijuana thing.

Why are they even testing for pot? Are they trying to say that it enhances your performance?
As Robin Williams says, "Marijuana enhances many things: color, tastes, sensations. But you are certainly not f***ing empowered... The only way it's a performance enhancing drug is if there's a big Hershey bar at the end of the run."

Was that the reason why Texas A&M and Missouri wanted so badly to join the SEC?

I don't worry about weed as much as I do "dealing", violent behavior, or theft.

What would be more interesting to me would be to see a comparison not against the NCAA standards, but against other conference's standards. As much fun as it is to poke fun at the SEC, if they're no less stringent than the other conferences, it's hard to ascribe that as another factor in their recent success.

If marijuana was an advantage in recruiting, Hawaii would be a national title contender every year.

No, the Aggie and Tigers did know, however, that the South has great places for late night munchies.

RE: CBS/SEC teams' drug penalties more lenient than NCAA's
Reminds me of this 2010 study
Quote:Clemson, Ole Miss, Purdue and UCLA are the only universities among the nation's automatic-qualifying Bowl Championship Series conference schools that do not require a member of its football team to miss any playing time after two positive drug tests...
...six universities – Baylor, Cincinnati, Georgia, Kentucky, Miami and Virginia Tech -- have a much stricter policy, suspending its players at least one game for a first positive drug test.
Makes me wonder if perhaps these teams wouldn't play better if their players weren't stoned... just sayin'

Mark, the big drug bust was at TCU, among defensive players, and TCU had one of the best defenses in the country...
That kind of shoots a hole in your theory...

Except for steroids and the like, I don't think drugs actually help on-field performance, IMHO. Especially not marijuana.

I'm not saying it does help. But you have no proof that it doesn't either...
Frankly, I think the entire debate is just an extension of a stupid law, created to outlaw something that was part of a culture that didn't come from white folks. But that's another debate...
BTW, I seem to remember Babe Ruth hit 3 HRs during a game when he was drunk as hell...
