Newsok.com: OU/OSU happy with 10 teams
http://newsok.com/big-12-oklahoma-oklaho...le/3679732

“Oklahoma's view on expansion is one of open-mindedness,” Castiglione said. “Essentially, we're happy where we are, we like the (10-team) model we have in place … that particular model is working for us.

---

Neither is OSU. Holder said the Big 12's new solid status is a welcome change from the last two years, when defections to other conferences left the Big 12 in jeopardy.

“It's just nice to be stable,” Holder said. “There's a whole different perspective and attitude right now than there was one year ago or two years ago. It's a welcome change.”

“I don't think we'll do a lot of talking about expansion right now. I think everyone's happy with 10. They'd like to let things stabilize right now, find out what's going to happen with the playoffs.”

Since this was reported by a non-WVU blogger, it must mean that the Big Texas XII will extend invitations to Florida State, Clemson, and for geographic balance, Wyoming.

IIRC, Mike Slive and his AD's in the SEC were happy at 12 about this time last year, too.

It's called tortious interference if the XII invites them or makes overtures towards them via public statements.

In the end, this means absolutely nothing.

Count it! I am quoting this on Twitter as my source for Wyoming going to the big time! Now to the MWC to rub this in donkies and STDSU's face!

That's the lovely part of all this. Unless you have someone go off the reservation (TCU's AD, FSU's chair of trustees) realignment is basically a bunch of crap lies for liability purposes indistinguishable from the other crap that is true. And those that go off the reservation then backtrack when a lawyer calls them and swears at them or other people yell at them for acting like their private dreams and beliefs are reality.

I hope we get a couple good books/multi part investigative journalism in a few years about the whole realignment "era" from 2010-whenever like we did with behind the scenes stuff in Florida for the 2000 recount.

I think the key words in that quote is "right now".

The push seems to be coming from ACC teams, not the pull from the Big 12. They dont have to do it "right now". They want to earn sign their deal with 10 members, get their new commish on board, and look toward the future....EAST. The question doesnt appear to be "IF" it appears to be "When"...when is right now?

This doesn't fit the narrative at all. I think it's obvious that everyone must be lying.

RE: Newsok.com: OU/OSU happy with 10 teams
As a B12 fan, I don't discount these reports that the conference is happy with 10 members. There are good reasons to stay at ten. The SEC, B1G, and PAC, unlike the B12, have not lost teams. The B12 lost 4 teams and added 2. That's a revolving door of 6 teams for the 8 teams that stayed fixed. Pausing, and catching one's breath, is not out of the question.

I think it is like building a hot rod to race. Let's do a few road test before we jack up the compression and throw in the high octane.

But, given today's football world, my money is still on expansion, if not this year, then within a year or two. Follow the money; and the money is having a large or larger tv audience vitally interested in the conference outcome.

This statement was made Aug 14 2011

SEC presidents met in Atlanta on Sunday morning, and Florida president Bernie Machen, speaking as chairman of the SEC board of presidents and chancellors, said the league likes being at 12 teams - for now.

"The SEC Presidents and Chancellors met today and reaffirmed our satisfaction with the present 12 institutional alignment," Machen said in a statement.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- Southeastern Conference commissioner Mike Slive welcomed Texas A&M as the 13th member of the league on Monday and said he doesn't expect to add another team before the Aggies begin play next season.

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Bye-bye Big 12, hello SEC.

After weeks of private flirtations and the college sports' equivalent of prenuptial negotiations with their respective lawyers, Missouri and the Southeastern Conference took their mutual attraction public Sunday

First the SEC released a statement welcoming Missouri as its newest member. Later there was a campus pep rally in Columbia, replete with a new SEC banner, the school's marching band and exploding confetti.

If Oklahoma and Oklahoma St are going along with Texas against Big 12 expansion, then I doubt we will see any expansion for a while. On the other hand, if ND came calling that would change their minds

I'm a little disappointed that you didn't work ECU to the Big XII in there somehow.
