4/16 Guys Please Tell Me This
What teams will the PAC 12 take to get to 16?

Has Dude told the PAC12 the plan yet?

It'll probably be 3 16 team conferences east and then 12 team pac 12 out west.

The 4x16 plan only works if UT and OU join the Pac. I've said all along there will be 5 or more conferences of 12 to 16 schools. Right now the Pac is not interested in BYU, Boise or anyone else out west. The B1G seems content, though that could change with tv contract negotiations. I don't think the SEC wants to expand in the near future nor the ACC. The B12 is the only conference that has reasons to expand immediately, a CCG and large fan bases outside of Texas. And if they get two schools from the ACC, the ACC would be fine with twelve schools. The BE probably wants to expand, first to get to an even 14, and second to add a school like BYU that would strengthen the conference.

Not alot to choose from. If they had to go to 16, my guess---Colorado St, Air Force, Houston, SMU.

The population in the west is primarily located in two states. Texas and California. Those 2 states are also #1 and #2 in population in the entire nation. Additionally, the two Texas teams would give the Pac some central time zone start times. It would make sense to have a presence in Texas and the central time zone if these are the final adds ever for the Pac-12. If they can get over the religious affillitation thing---BYU would be a great add---but the western posters all say they Pac-12 will never add them.

There is no one of value between the current Pac-12 and the state of Texas. Unless they add some teams from Texas, they stay at 12.

People have waaaayyyy too much faith in the GoR. All throughout realignment we've seen how heavy, punishing exit fees are nothing because they are either not enforced or are negotiated down to a slap on the wrist. Yet some believe THIS contract is different and is somehow iron clad (sort of like how faith is the difference between legal tender and a piece of common paper).

The truth is, if LHN fails in the next few years, there is nothing to stop UT from picking up the phone, dialing Larry Scott and ending the Big12.

The Pac-12 wont go that far. They'd stay at 12 before doing that.

Who's talking about 4-16? The SEC, Big Ten, and Big 12 could all go to 16 and the Pac 12 will do what's best for it - probably remain at 12. For the record, I don't think, and no WVU insider has said, that the plan is to go to 16. The plan now is 12 with FSU & Clemson. I expect more dominoes will fall for a few more years though.

Shack..and when it comes they'll take the lowest hanging fruit from among: Louisville/Cincy/BYU/USF/UCF or maybe Boise St....Personally I think Louisville and Cincy would be the best choices to keep WVU happy.

Or they could use the LHN to leverage for an unequal share of any future Big 12 network that might be put together with any new expansions. It doesn't have to lead to Texas leaving.

The Big12 is stable for the next 13 years. Beyond that, its no more stable than the Big East. Dont kid yourself---Exit fees are much different from a grant of rights. Nobody has left a conference where a grant of rights is in place.

So now the power will be in the hands of just 60? Hmmm

Good Luck with that...

Well right now, realistically, it's in the hands of just 48. ACC even now isn't at the same table as the other 4 conferences. It just isn't.

The only two teams that would bring in enough money are BYU and Texas. BYU has, pretty much, a 0% chance of getting in. Texas doesn't want to, at the moment. They would need one of those teams to expand.

I doubt thats true. If it was, neither Colorado or Utah would have been invited based upon the "value" concept as neither represent that sort of value. Besides, the point of the OP is they had to add 4 to get to 16.

I personally think that a combo of UL and UC or USF and UCF make the most sense. They accomplish different things but make sense together. If BYU is added the second team could be anyone.

I am not a 4X16 guy, but if they wanted to go to 16, I could see justification for taking Wyoming, New Mexico, Nevada and Hawaii.

Hawaii is the real interesting thought... You could make a very reasonable case for adding them. Much more reasonable than one would think.

BYU, Air Force, Boise St. & UNLV to the PAC 12....If they took Colorodo and Utah anything is possible. Oklahoma will hold out for the SEC.
