If they give him the right tweaks to the offense... Tyler Arndt (QB). Kid has a legit arm, and can play ball.
But he's not an option QB. He's got enough wheels to avoid a blitz, but you're not going to see him take a keeper 80 yards for a TD often. He's a pocket passer.
For whatever reason, Fran kept Arndt on the bench all of last year (he did blow out his ACL the season prior... so that may have something to do with it). This offseason, he's been looking sharp and poised.
(oh, I figure this is for the next season Sun Belt, but wanted to feel included anyway).

WR TJ Glover - had to sit out last year, and we missed him. Explosive playmaker, slot type guy. One of the fastest guys on the team.
LB Jake Johnson - VaTech transfer. This will be his 3rd and final year at South. Should be a legitimate draft prospect.
RB Kendall Houston - aka Beast Mode. Coming off knee surgery, but should be back at 100%. Went to Ark St out of high school (local to Mobile). Ended up transferring to South. Tough guy to bring down, definitely runs downhill, good elusiveness as well for a bigger RB. Had one of his best games at NC State last year.
Kendall Houston has a rare mental disorder called Jacklambertigo.
His brain confuses pain with happiness.
Glover being back is huge as well. That kid zigs, then zags, then he's gone.

Every player on the Troy Trojan squad will be a weapon of mass destruction... :noisycricket:
QB - Jake Medlock or E.J Hilliard. I know we got big shoes to fill from TY Hilton's departure but I think our receiving corps are talented enough to fill the hole. It's up to our QB to get the ball to our receivers and let them do the work.

Crazy prediction time - I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that MT QB Logan Kilgore will be either 1st or 2nd team All-SBC. Yep, he's going to beat out either Robinson or Alpin.
HAs bad as we were last year, he was still a 59% passer with 18 TDs. And this was his 1st year as a starter (actually, his first full time PT) with a team decimated by injuries, who changed offensive co-ordinators 6 weeks in, with no running game (we started a 3rd stringer at RB for most of the year). He also missed a game.
This year it will be his 3rd year in the system, he'll have a full year with a new OC, a running game which should be killer behind Cunningham and LSU transfer Drayton Calhoun, a solid OL, and a defense that should be able to give him the ball back instead of just getting run over.

We need Logan Kilgore (returning starting quarterback) to play well this year. But seriously - our defense. Gosh I cannot tell you how many times I sat in the stands and said "Oh, there it is. Defensive failure, they're gonna have a big play" (they almost always did). We're gonna have a revitalization coming... and hopefully that'll help from last year's abhorrent defense. A change in scheme might be nice too - but I'm not sure that'll happen. Our defense just seems so easy to figure out to me.

Sorry, but no. The best linebackers in the Belt are led by this guy.
Four new faces I'm looking forward to seeing this year:
4)WR-Jeremiah Bryson-Local kid, went to Pitt last year but decided not to stick around after all the head coach shenanigans. Athletic speedy RB, shifted to WR due to the strength at RB, don't know how much he'll see the field this year, but it will likely be more at WR than it would have been at RB.
3)S-Jajuan Harley-Transfer from FSU, highly rated coming out of high school, Scout had him rated the 10th best safety in his class and Rivals had him the 12th. He could definitely be an impact guy for us.
2)DT-Pat McNeil-One of our more hyped signings in recent years, a 3 star DT with legit size(6'1 295) who has had season ending injuries each of the last two seasons. I'm really hoping he stays healthy this year because his size and ability could go a long way in fixing the problems we had on defense last year.
1)RB-Drayton Calhoun-Transfer from LSU, was rated number 8 athlete in the nation by SuperPrep, number 10 athlete in the nation by rivals and number 12 athlete in the nation by ESPNU. He and Benny Cunningham should combine for one of the more surprising backfields in the conference this season.

Every Trojan fan feels your pain regarding defensive failure. We should have the talent to improve this year, but I'm not buying the talk until I see some football. I'm much more optimistic about Robinson and crew returning our offense to the top of the conference.
