Visualizing Realignment
I was asked to do this for a friend and thought I'd share it with y'all. To quote him: "Wow...the new North is going to SUCK!"

I doubt it will be north-south divisions; more than likely east west

RE: Visualizing Realignment
Texas looks closer to FSU and Clemson than they do to Iowa State. But damn West Virginia is way the hell over there.

RE: Visualizing Realignment
If you add Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech as well, it pretty well covers the southeast, outside of North Carolina, and fills in the gaps between FSU, Clemson, and WVU...

If you really want to give the ACC fits, add Maryland and ECU as well, to cover the east coast from Philadelphia southward...

Of course that last sentence was sarcasm. But it would be funny as hell to see happen...

Looking at the map just shows what a stupid idea it is.

Yeah, but as Jalen Rose said on ESPN the other day, "The only maps that matter in realignment are the ones that show the location of the banks."

RE: Visualizing Realignment
They would never even consider doing this, but the easiest thing from a pure alignment perspective would be a massive 8 team raid of the ACC. They could put those 8 teams with West Virginia and leave the other 9 schools in the west, call the divisions Plains and Atlantic.

Atlantic
West Virginia
Virginia Tech
Virginia
Pitt
North Carolina State
Florida State
Clemson
Georgia Tech
Miami (FL)
(Note: I'm assuming that in this case, North Carolina chooses the SEC or Big Ten over the Big 12 provided Duke goes along with them (and obviously assuming one of the two will take them. Virginia is in because getting Virginia Tech on-board is key to the whole thing and you have to offer Virginia to get them for political reasons).

Plains
Texas
Oklahoma
Oklahoma State
Texas Tech
Texas Christian
Baylor
Kansas
Kansas State
Iowa State

Jalen Rose was making comments about conference realignment?

The proof is in the picture.

I disagree.

Getting the Texoma schools to separate from eachother will be almost impossible. Every single one of them have their biggest fanbases centered around DFW. They will not agree to be split up unless they WANT to be split up and I just can't see that happening. Those 6 depend on eachother to drive ticket sales.

RE: Visualizing Realignment
With Florida State and Clemson or Georgia Tech, I think we can almost guarantee the old south reforming (with TCU instead of Texas A&M). The divisions need to be somewhat balanced which Florida State accomplishes. That alignment lets you avoid permanent crossovers (so you play most the other division most years anyway). I think there still is danger in one geographic division and one that's not, but with 9 games (and no crossovers), you play everyone but 2 teams a year anyway.

A North division with FSU, Clemson, WVU and KSU, as long as Bill Snyder is coaching, is pretty good if you ask me. Kansas is rarely very good but ISU is usually solid. Will UT and OU dominate like they have the past decade? Maybe but it would be no guarantee.

Homey wasn't talking about competitiveness of the division.

Yep, he was. On SC as a host, I think. Just b/c he's an NBA guy doesn't mean he can't form a cogent thought about realignment. It sure as hell isn't rocket science.

It's amazing how many people are friggin' experts on the Big XII. I thought the only one with any experience in the conference was 10th...

Imagine that... 07-coffee3

B-12 eastern seaboard div
FSU, Mia, Clemson, GaT
WV, Pitt, BosColl, MD, Conn

B-10 [UNC, Va, Syc, Rutgers] & SEC [NCST, VaT]
would certainly get thiers.

Duke & WF in BE

I'd say 16 years of following the B12 counts makes me as much an "expert" as anyone can be.

Obviously I'm among those who always felt that going there was wrong to begin with and that we should have stood up to the politician's in 1995 and told them we were going with Arkansas to the SEC then as we originally wanted to and that was the end of it.

Better late than never though!

RE: Visualizing Realignment
My prediction:
FSU to B12 - possible
Clemson to B12 - doubtful
GTech to B12 - wishful
Miami to B12 - nope
Lville to B12 - nope
ECU to BEast - nope
ND to BEast - nope
ND to B12 - doubtful
ND to ACC - probable if FSU leaves
UConn to ACC - Instantly if GT/Clemson leave
Rutgers to ACC - If ND does not come in
Boise/SDSU to BEast - doubtful if UConn or Rutgers leave
If ANY current member of BEast leaves, the BEast ceases as a football conference.
