Says the Cuse fan who is leaving the Big East for a few million.
Well we thought we were leaving for more stability.
But all kidding aside and looking at what existed at that time (and still does exist)
better academics - check
better all around sports - check
better geographical rivalries - check
better football - ? (depends on whether Pitt, WVU, and others would leave or not)
more money now - check
more money long-term assuming we stayed where we were - no
For FSU the above is
better academics - no
better all around sports - no
better geographical rivalries - no
better football - yes
more money now - yes
more money long-term assuming the Seminoles stayed - ? (depends upon whether or not Miami and FSU can get back to their 90s days)
So, the decision is not as clear-cut for FSU vs SU except in terms of more money now.
Cheers,
Neil
You forgot one major question. Better Football relevance. Going from Big East to ACC- answer was yes. Going from ACC to Big 12- the answer also is yes.
Also- better all around conference. I'm sorry- but I don't think you can just say the ACC is better than the Big 12... I know in mens hoops- Big 12 has about 9.5 million more in units the next 6 years.

The meerkat was close to death for a couple of days and the next thing you know he is up again eating worms. Amazing; oh yeah and so is the potential FSU and Clemson news.
I thought that was HoneyBadger... he didn't give a $hit, so he got back up.

Also- the better geographic rivals. For FSU- after you get past Clemson, Georgia Tech, and Miami- it's tough to call any other ACC school really a geographic rival. Especially once you get past North Carolina schools. I'm sorry but UVA and VT aren't FSU geographic rivals. If FSU had those 3 with them in the Big 12- then it's pretty close to being a wash in terms of geographic rivals.

In terms of geography, the best thing for all parties concerned is for the ACC to trade Florida State to the SEC for South Carolina.
