There is a difference between pushing like UNT and FIU did because you want out, or making a courtesy call to satisfy your fan base. There was no reason for UL to leave, so they contact CUSA to say Hi, and that way in case some fan comes askng they can say "we called them, they didnt call back."
Not sure about UL but you are absolutely clueless about what is going on at ASU regarding realignment.

The ASU he's talking about is Arkansas State not Appalachian State. FYI.

I was referring to his comments about Arkansas States efforts regarding realignment. Don't think he is in a position to know.
If you did not know better, and I realize that most of you don't, you would think these ASU guys, know what they are talking abou on every subject. Sometimes, maybe most of the time they do, but sometimes they don't.
I am glad to see that some schools are fessing up to their efforts to exit the Belt, something that has been frustrating to those trying to build the Belt. Think my posting some of the frustration felt by those actually close to the situation is what initiated the last attach by the ASU posters, who are just as bullying here as they were on the Den.

I just wish they knew a little more about the subject they are posting about.
Considering about 90 percent of the Den wants ASU to remain in the SBC, our administration must be ignoring us again.
Most of us see no reason to move, although there are a few younger ones who dont understand college football and a couple old fogies who are scared of having to play games in Atlanta regularly are for the idea of moving.
If our administration would make a concerted effort to check the pulse of our fanbase, rather then ignoring all us bullying types at the Den, they would understand that we dont see a value of playing in a watered down CUSA, and would rather shoot for something bigger.

App and Southern bring more fans to the table than TxState and GaState. Market size isn't the end-all-be-all assessment of what a program can bring to the table. You have to look at the whole package.

You are really hung up on the market aspect. Miami, Atlanta, Dallas Fort-Worth and Nashville are already covered. How many more markets in the SBC footprint does the conference need to go after? At some point, the focus has to turn to who gives you the best chance to win on the field.

But here's the thing. Decisions ARENT made by looking at the whole package. MARKET comes first above all else then they drill down into the other stuff.
This has been the theme of this round of realignment. EXPOSURE to TV sets is the dominating factor. Not saying its right or even smart but THATS what they are looking at.

True, but what they aren't taking into account is what they are putting on TV. The fact that UNCC got a CUSA invite blows my mind. If that program stinks it up and doesn't win a game for 5 years, who in their right mind would watch them on TV? Just because they are in Charlotte doesn't make them worth watching. What's the point of having a good market if you don't have a good product?
The CUSA is setting itself up to be the Billy Mays (RIP, buddy) of College football being plastered all over TV trying to push crappy products.
The Sunbelt would do much better in the long run to pick quality programs with established fan bases so they can survive when the "TV Contract" bubble bursts.

Pretty sure that's what the CUSA/MWC merger was trying to do. Have a team in every single market.
