Georgia State to host Charlotte in 2015
http://www.fbschedules.com/2012/05/georg...e-in-2015/

Georgia State will host the Charlotte 49ers at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta on Sept. 3, 2015. The two schools are also discussing a game in 2016, but a contract has yet to be finalized.

I wouldn't be surprised if the CUSA grabbed Ga State in the next few weeks. Perhaps Benson is downplaying 12 because he may have to try and get from 8 to 10.

There's very little chance Georgia State would have accepted the Sun Belt invite without 100% assurance that C-USA wouldn't be calling anytime soon.

CUSA is taking 5 of 6 market schools in this round (UNT, FIU, UTSA, UNCC, ODU), 3 or which are start-ups.

It's pretty clear to me that Ga State was SO anxious to get their FBS cherry popped that they played themselves out of that last CUSA spot. Since CUSA is obviously after market, objectively, they'd certainly want Atlanta over Ruston.

So yeah, in Ga State's rush to be FIRST, they now get to whine and complain about being in the Sun Belt instead of CUSA.

No doubt Ga State's rush to beat the vote in the CAA to increase the exit fee to $1 million cost them the CUSA. Turns out the conference didn't have enough schools show up to even vote on the fee increase as they were all trying to leave the conference. Given the market, Ga State would have easily been ahead of La Tech. You have to wonder now that things have settled if Ga State will give the CUSA a buzz, "You guys thinking of going to 16 ?"

The last invite went to ODU. ODU is light years ahead of GA State. The Norfolk VA market is the biggest market without a pro sports team in it. ODU has not publicly accepted because their BOT has yet to meet and vote on a conference move.

This will take us to 14. The MWC sits at 10. There is going to be a scheduling agreement and an alliance with the MWC for a few years while both conferences collect exit fees and basketball credits. When those are paid I expect a full merger. That would be 24 teams right now and perfect for 4 pods of 6 schools.

When do we get to stop having these threads where non members pimp their candidacy by hating on GSU? It is absolutely incredible. Wasnt this thread about GSU adding Charlotte to the schedule?

Actually GSU is not complaining. However GA Southern is. Get it straight.

I think the Charlotte addition to Ga State's schedule was a good move for both schools. They certainly mirror each other in terms of new programs in major cities. I hope Ga State wins that one and represents the Sun Belt well.

Man just take this as flattery. Those little pimpled face GA Southern HS kids are just sooooooo jealous they spew anything and everything to try to drag us back down to the FCS quagmire. This time next decade they will still be doing the same thing, us in FBS and them in FCS.

Let's see Georgia State whoop Charlotte (likely, considering they'll just be starting FBS play). I hope you have a rocking full house for that game. Go SBC.

I know it's hard to see when your in it.....but it Georgia State/Georgia Southern in the same conference would be a real college football FBS hatefest. That sort of rivalry is pure money in college football.

Would Auburn want to see Alabama drop out and lose the Iron Bowl or vice-versa? No way.

That's the sort of thing that could have potential lift the whole conference up. Throw in App State into that and it increases.

Can you even schedule a road game with them at this time? Correct me if I'm wrong but Sun Belt rules require road games be only against FBS competition. Not going to be FBS competition. But actually be FBS by such a date. I don't think they'll be there by that date. And we dont want you playing BELOW your level of competition. So the return date may not be the following year.

I agree. Plus they'll likely have to pay a much more severe exit fee when and if such a call comes. And they can schedule AWESOME home games with their huge facility. There also was and is nothing, absolute zero, from stopping CUSA from inviting Georgia State in this latest round. Just because they've said yes to one league it doesn't mean they can't "better deal" if one becomes available to them and they see it as such (see TCU as member of Big East).

South has an opening in 2015. And we need a patsy that year on the schedule (NC State, Nebraska, and Navy are our OOC that year). Let's put a double SB whoopin on em.
