"North Texas, a team that’s finished with a losing record every year since 1996"

Really dude? C'mon man you know better than that.

CUSA response (football)
Code:

51 SMU                   94 FIU
77 UCF                  121 UNT
182 Memphis             123 ODU
                        200 UTSA
247 Charlotte (assigned them last slot)

Sun Belt response (football)

Average ranking of Sun Belt departures 107.5 average ranking of known replacements 193, drop of 85.55

If GaSouthern and App come in, average ranking of new members is 150.25 drop of 42.75

No way either league calls these moves a win.

Basketball

Ranking of additions

Combined average of newcomers with them. 171.4 improvement in average of 30.6

Sun Belt should be improved in basketball out of the change. The amount of improvement is determined by how much of a football hit we are prepared to take. The football hit can be reduced but it will cost basketball.

Is there a longer win streak in Sun Belt football history than stAte's current 7 game streak over UNT?

Ok, will I guess Sam Houston ranked at 62 is better than stAte who is ranked at 67. And I'm sure the cajuns would also agree with you that Ga So is better than they are since they are ranked 1 spot higher.

I don't think we should knock FCS schools who throw this rating at us saying it is flawed and then turn around to say it is a good indicator because it fits our current narrative.

I'm not saying your analysis is incorrect as the logic is sound and there is a need to quantify the strengths of the teams. I'm just pointing to the inconsistency in the use of the Sags rating on our board.

RE: No League Wins in Conference Realignment - From the Bird's Nest
Of course neither of us won in realignment. There were only 3 leagues who really won, the SEC, B1G, and PAC12. I think the ACC did nothing but tread water, and everyone else lost. Some lost more than others. Biggest loser of course is the WAC, but of the conferences that are going to live it's the MWC. They lost 3 BCS busters and probably the biggest brand name in non-AQ. C-USA got gutted as well, but the 4, outside of Memphis basketball, aren't as irreplaceable as what the MWC lost. You guys actually for the most part assuming you only lose UNT and FIU didn't get hurt nearly as bad as C-USA or the MWC. The MAC weathered it the best, as they only lost 1 FB only member.

There is no other available ranking, flawed as it is.

No BCS component can give us a relative ranking of ODU, UTSA, TexSt, GaSt. Got to use the only tool available.

Common sense or horse sense either one tells anyone who is cognizant observer of college football that CUSA football stands weaker than it was before the raid caused them to expand and Sun Belt football stands weaker than it was before the raid caused us to expand.

I assume you do not disagree with this even though there is no adequate tool to assess.

In basketball we have more tools with greater interlock and those tools tell us CUSA stands worse off post-expansion in basketball than it was pre-raid, while Sun Belt may actually improve.

My apologies to the UNT folks.

I meant to type 2006. i typed 1996 instead.

I'll make the correction.

Again, my apologies.

RE: No League Wins in Conference Realignment - From the Bird's Nest
I think most rational people would understand the concept of these "re-alignment" moves are more defensive than to improve its position, since they were raided.

The pecking order, perceived or not, is there and some teams take full advantage to improve their position for future moves.

I would think someone with a great deal of immaturity would see a mistake and automatically presume it was done purposely and then bash the writer personally.

I expected more from you, however. Sorry I was wrong.

Conferences don't win, but individual schools do. The only losers I can think of were NM State and Idaho.

App's 2011 final rating was 131, 8-4 record was a very down year for us. Our Avg final rating for the last seven years is 74. Expect us to be back up there this year.

You can't because there is no way to rank them against FB division teams. A major fault in the Sags is even trying.
