gomemphistigers1 Wrote:now normally i read these kind of posts with a grain of salt cause i know most of this is all in fun...but as i read this all i see is a bunch of UL and UC people basicly saying HA HA Memphis we got in the Big East and we're not gonna let you in...this whole post is childish...ya'll are bitching about stuff from 30 years ago...and you know what...our schools hate each other...thats the way it is...but when it comes down to it all this post is doing is trying to rub our faces in the fact that UL and UC got into a BCS conference before we did...way to go...but that means what to us???...C-USA is a good conference...good football in Memphis, Southern Miss, Marshall, Houston, Tulsa with UTEP and UCF hiring big name coaches in Price and O'Leary...in basketball C-USA has Memphis, Tulsa, UAB, UTEP and A LOT of potential...i can't wait to see what Eustachy does at Southen Miss...they will be real good...and UCF is a real wild card...they could be real good...don't worry about little ole Memphis...if we don't get in the Big East...we'll make it just fine.

First off gomemphis, I notice you left UAB out as a good football team in CUSA. You should know better and I will consider it an oversight on your part. Basketball wise, I also can't wait to see what Tom Penders does at Houston. Again, I will consider this a slight oversight as well.

Wilkie, the BE is a mid-major with BCS status for the next 4 years. Good for you guys for the 187th time. But don't make yourselves out to be something you're not which is a great conference. You're not and you're a long way from it. You got some proving to do and it will not be easy. But you're in a better position than CUSA so instead of rubbing it our faces how about just appreciating it and making the best of this opportunity. CUSA will be fine without guys. We have no choice but to be. You're not going to miss us and CUSA is not going to miss you.

But for now you still have one more year to deal with us so deal with it.

Who would you rather be? Miami (OH)/Marhsall or Vanderbilt/Baylor? A certain conference does not guarantee a level of success.

UAB is going to kick the shiat out of Baylor this weekend.

Wilkie...it could be said that a program who has never ever in its history, not a single time produced a top 10 team is the midest of mid majors no matter what league you play in. I'd look in the mirror if I were you before I started throwing barbs at others.

I guess it all depends on your definition of mid-major...

I believe the title of this thread should be....."Can Memphis trust the Big East ". By that I mean, as a Louisville fan I know how long we pined for membership in the Big East and if Miami had not left, I don't believe that b*tch Shalala would have ever let us in. Anyway what happens if PSU finally wants to come home or what if ND comes to the realization that the best way back to respectability is with the Big East, then what for Memphis. Does the Big East leave the Tigers standing at the alter? If I was RC I would be looking for some type of agreement that when the Big East splits or adds any football playing members that my school was first choice. After all if you believe the stories of how Memphis was used during the last Big East raid of CUSA then Mike T , UofL, UC, and USF owe Memphis that much.
Just my opinion for what its worth.

Jim..There might be at least a remote chance of that happening IF the schedule stayed at 11 games. IF it goes to 12 there is going to be a temptation for the big five to strengthen themselves when possible. That is really the danger for all three leagues, Big East CUSA and the MWC. Syracuse and West Virginia help the ACC if the schedule is 12 games every year. The ACC flirted with the idea of 14 last summer when they expanded. Its not really a matter of if, just when. If the schedule goes to 12 the big five leagues will not be able to resist the temptation of adding a couple of teams each. Under that senario Tulane would get an SEC spot for sure, the other would seem to be up for grabs.

I was thinking of the rumor that BB refused to let Memphis go with UofL and UC because it would have killed CUSA basketball. I don't know what truth there is to it but I have seen it mentioned on a number of school and conference boards.

Wilkie, Big East or C-USA what is the difference ? All Memphis needs to do is win games and eveything will fall into to place.

We just beat Ole Miss 20 -13 in front of 61,000 .Another win for the good guys. Memphis will continue to prosper with or without Louisville. It really does NOT matter what conference we are in , Memphis will play on with continued sucess. Really , the Big East should get down on their hands and knees and beg Memphis to join their league.

-- Wow....what an arrogant statement from a fan whos team has been a laughingstock for the last three decades or so....what don't you try making a new yrs day bowl or have 4-5 straight winning seasons before you talk like that....one winning season in CUSA does not make you a football power of any kind...tell me friend...when was the last time Memphis was ranked in football?? I bet its been awhile

-- And just for the record....we don't need to get down a beg because there are many teams in your league (UCF, ECU and Marshall to name a few) that would jump to the BE in a heartbeat...THe BE is your only hope of ever getting into a BCS conference...maybe you should be a little more respectful
