Is UTSA one and done in the WAC?
Another MWC/C-USA Update
By InsideRunnerSports Staff April 12, 2012 Posted 1 hour ago

Late this afternoon, multiple direct sources confirmed to InsideRunnerSports that UTSA's chances for receiving a bid to the MWC/C-USA/Alliance conference are now ranging from strong to very strong

UTSA has rocketed up the charts, passing more established programs and would fall in line behind North Texas and Florida International. UTSA sits in third, with Louisiana Tech being the fourth program to receive invites if the number is 20.

The contingency, if all of this falls a part and the train falls of the tracks, expect UTSA to move on from the WAC and reunite with Karl Benson and The Sun Belt.

Really? UTSA hasn't even played a season in FBS football and they're already getting this kind of talk? I hope they go to the MWC if they do move there at all...

So who are your 3 to get to 12 for fb if that IRS report is true? Texas St., Charlotte, Appalachian St.?
Do you take UTA to balance out UALR. I thought Benson said he was thinking about a bball school. If Charlotte gets fb only to the MAC who is your #12? Old Dominion? NMSU? Jacksonville St.? Lamar?

RE: Is UTSA one and done in the WAC?
Am I missing something here, but if UTEP is moving over to MWC, wouldn't C-USA need a total of 3 new additions to get up to 10?

1. Southern Miss
2. UAB
3. ECU
4. Marshall
5. Tulsa
6. Rice
7. Tulane
8. FIU
9. North Texas
10. LA Tech/UTSA

Does that look right?

I don't get it, are they merging or not Reports of teams joining "The alliance" and other reports of teams joining CUSA because the alliance is happening.

Benson probably offered them a spot if they got a football team

IRS has been a source in the past...however they are quickly turning into the WAC version of Chip Brown for the Texas Rivals site. Lots of BS with a little bit of truth attached.

Though I would prefer their report compared to Middle's beat writer.

RE: Is UTSA one and done in the WAC?
I refuse to believe that they go beyond 20 at this time, Just too risky. So that means they stand at 8 in each conference. UTEP moves to the MWC to make nine and either SJSU or Utah State are invited. CUSA has 7 and invites UNT and FIU to get to nine and then one of UTSA/Charlotte/LaTech. SBC invites Texas State to get to 10 and then we decide whether to go to 12 or wait for the final scene of this movie where CUSA schools go "What have we done? What have we done?" as their stadiums fall down around them.

Why? From most accounts, IRS has been pretty spot on in the past. Although, it's always best to take hearsay as just that. Until it's officially announced, it ain't official. I can't get the events of 2005 out of my mind.

Who says they have to have equal numbers on both sides?
