Elway proves again he's an ass.

Hope Tebow can land somewhere quickly, and he tears things up.

Not really -- it made too much sense:

1) Denver was a playoff with (or despite) Tim Tebow. Regardless of how well Peyton can throw, it'll be at least a 100% upgrade from Tebow.

2) Too much "pressure" playing in Tennessee. All the college stuff. Plus, it doesn't seem like he's the kind of guy who wants to "stick it" to the Colts twice a year.

3) John Elway.

Called it from the get go. It just made sense. Look what the Broncos did with a stunt qb. Now they have a real one.

Doubt Tebow will tear up much of anything in the NFL.

Yes.

He's been an ass for a long time, this is just another example. You don't sell out a winning QB.

I like Peyton, but I hope he's effectively retired now.

i'd expect you to say something like this. Elway owns a business. And his business is to make money. The best way to do that is to win a SB and tebow wasn't going to take them there. This is the best move he could make.

If Tebow is such a winner, I'm sure other teams will be falling all over themselves to trade for him, right? Perfect time to buy low.

Let's see how that plays out. 03-wink

Maybe with a West Coast or run-and-shoot offense. I'm surprised Denver even picked him considering they like to throw down field.

Elway's team was making money w/ Tebow. Winning a SB is not guaranteed to maximize profits for a NFL team. Moreover, no-one "knows" that Peyton will take them to the SB.

Elway just proved he's a liar. That won't bode well for moral in Denver.

After all the publicity Tebow's morale for next year is probably already in the crapper. Now the Broncos almost have to sign him.

this is a pointless article. i didn't say elway was a good businessman, just that he's a businessman. I know you'll find a way to disagree with this, but the whole point of owning a football team (any team for that matter) is to win a SB. Put aside your feelings for Elway and tell me that you really think a Tebow-lead Broncos team could have a chance to win it all. There's no guarantee that Peyton will take them there, but if he's healthy, they have a better show with him than tebow. Every fan and every analyst and all the team personnel can agree on this. you're the only dissenter

Unless he can find a team that uses the wishbone formation.

RE: Who does Peyton Manning sign with?
Peyton still has to win the starting job. Just because he's been medically cleared to play doesn't mean he's the old Peyton again. He had to have 3 surgeries on his neck to fully regain use of his arm, and it remains to be seen if that's really the case...

If it turns out that Peyton isn't up to the task, Elway is really screwed. Tebow now knows he's not in Denver's long range plans...

Tell that to Bidwell. But, is this a business, or a competition? You've flipped positions now.

I never thought Dilfer would win a Super Bowl. Nevertheless, there are plenty of teams out there w/ QB's who aren't good enough to win it all. They didn't drop a budding superstar to chase Peyton.

Building a SB calibre team takes strategy. I think Elway blew that.

Heh. Not exactly stiff competition.

If the Broncos made it to the second round of the playoffs with a QB that can't read defenses or complete half his passes even with defenses stacking the box, I would think they can be a SB caliber team with one of the best QBs of all time at calling audibles at the LOS.

Let's let the market set the value for Tebow. If he's a "budding superstar," then some team will surely send the Broncos a great offer for him.

you called tebow a budding superstar. nuff said

and that dilfer win was light years ago (i know it's a unit of distance, not time). The NFL is way different now. The league has become much more QB centric, mainly because of the stringent fines/rules put in place against hard hitting defenses. That Ravens team would've been severely hamstrung if it played under today's rules
