I guess I will post this since MT is close to Vandy----MY grandfather (LSU) kicked a 45 yard FG against them in 1902 to set a state record --I think--Playing for the Cajuns I broke it (at UL)with a 47 yarder---mine was straight on off a tee-----His was a DROP KICK in the rain!!!! WOW!!!

Just think about putting a modern college football team up against one of those teams back in 1903.
Just the size of some of the linemen would make them pause.
They had never seen a forward pass, it would have baffled them.

Most of those players in 1903 were about the same size so they didn't hurt each other too much other than no protection.
About ten years later the President of the U.S. wanted to do away with football because so many college players were dying playing football. So, they had to "clean it up" and put in more rules and safety equipment. Makes you wonder what football will look like 100 years from now.
