RE: Good-bye, Mountaineers
I would hate to be a WVU fan due to the long distances to all away games. Anyway, thanks for leaving (gave Memphis the break we needed) and good luck to the Mountaineers. I would like to schedule an OOC game or two some day.

RE: Good-bye, Mountaineers
Interesting article here

Big East, WVU parting was inevitable
http://espn.go.com/blog/bigeast/post/_/id/30256/big-east-wvu-parting-was-inevitable

When West Virginia defiantly announced in October that it would leave for the Big 12 as soon as possible, did anybody really think the Big East would be able to stop it?

We are talking about the Big East, after all, a league that never seems to win. A league that seems to get taken advantage of at almost every turn. There is a reason the Big East has the reputation of being a league that gets kicked around. West Virginia just did it again.

Yep, you kicked our Big East arse. You brazenly decided to ignore a signed agreement to stay for 27 months and leave early. Our leaders puffed out their chests and declared that there would be no deal, not never, and that you would stay the 27 months.

And you proved them to be liars, or fools.

That said, i agree with Gray Avenger. WVU is trading away a whole lot for this new money. You guys are thoroughly enmeshed in East Coast football culture, and you are giving that up to play alien programs like Kansas State, Baylor, Texas, Oklahoma State, and Iowa State? That is just so bizarre. WVU fans could drive to any game on the schedule, save USF. Now, what away games can you drive to? It's just plain weird.

Legal 101: If you're in the middle of litigation or have any risk of litigation, you don''t make statements and actions that weakens your position or that can be used against you. If the BE wasn't "puffing their chest," they would be getting much less than $20 million, if anything. Plus it protects their future position(if Pitt and Cuse wanted to do the same thing - they have to go through the same process).

We had no choice. It was either the Big 12, or keep begging for an ACC/SEC invite that would in all likelihood never come.

See ya WVU. I am sure your new buddy Bevo will take "good" care of you. Nice of you to fill out their schedule on such short notice. Good luck!

This. (Seriously, beware the Austin Orangebloods. They are bad news. Align yourselves with Oklahoma State and T. Boone Pickens.)

We are not trading away much at all. The only team left that we have football tradition with is Rutgers. And I will miss that game the most. We have as much history with the Big 12 schools as many of the Big East schools.....so its really a wash in that regard.

That said, we have the most exciting home schedule I have seen in many decades this year! And that does not even include the fact that Texas comes the following year!

Great day to be a Mountaineer!!!

Believe me when I say this: Bevo will be much, much worse to you than Providence could ever be. You don't have to take this Coog's word for it, though. Ask fans of SMU and Texas A&M.

To WVU fans:

I've got no ill-will towards Mountaineer fans (the trolls on ITV not withstanding) as they didn't have any control over how the university decided to conduct itself. Best of luck in the Big 12 and you guys have a bright and exciting future to enjoy.

To WVU administration:

Go **** yourselves and thanks for ****ing over all of the remaining Big East schools with your trashy, classless behavior.

My feelings exactly.

I have enjoyed playing WVU over our short time together and our games were always exciting. Your fanbase was a hoot to tailgate with and you never know if we'll wind up in the same conference again.

However, WVU's administration can go screw themselves.

However, WVU's administration can go screw themselves.

I don't think we need to re-argue all of this over again, and it's pointless anyway - done is done. But I will just say this again: any other school in WVU's situation (i.e. faced w/ the prospect of a potential huge upgrade and ticket out of the BE into a league that needed them by 2012) would have done the exact same thing WVU did - - - and if you hadn't, you wouldn't have been looking out for the best interests of your school.

That said everybody is going to indignantly deny their school would stoop to such low behavior, so no worries... you can view our administration how you want. As a fan and alum, I am far more confident in our current administration than I have been at any time in the past.

Agreed. Without WVU, we would have been like the ACC or Big 10. But with WVU, we were better than those conferences.

Bull, it was Pitt that spoiled WVU's chance at a NC. USF had nothing to do with it...

crazed, I'm with you. I feel very confident towards WVU's leadership, more so than at any other time in our history...
