Well-stated, Steve.

I was struggling with how to best capture my thoughts. I can't put it better than that.

Agreed. I also like the renaming of the board in his honor. RIP Greg.

RIP...one of the first people to welcome me to the board and always sent PMs wishing me and my family well, yet we never met in person. He will be missed by many.

I'm shocked.

I don't know what to say except Gruehls/Greg was the nicest person I've ever "met" on a message board.

He always showed respect/compassion where due while reacting with strength when appropropriate.

God took home a great man and Bearcat yesterday.

Prayers for the Ruehlmann and Bearcat families.

Wow, that's terrible. My condolences to his family and friends.

I really liked the idea of renaming the board in his honor as well.

Wow.

Gruehls will definitely be missed. No one could top his humor and wit. I had no idea that he was the father of one of my grade school friends.

My thoughts do indeed go out to his family and friends. Greg had a wonderful combination of wit and wisdom. My first foray onto this board was an ill advised joke at his expense, his lightning bolt response was firm but merciful. He will be missed.

mlb has informed MiamiHawkTalk http://www.miamihawktalk.com/discussion/...p?p=774480

The Memphis boards have a thread. http://ncaabbs.com/showthread.php?tid=54...id=7357429

Does anyone know of any other fan bases that would like to know about this? I know he was famous for trolling other teams' boards, but he often won over many of the fans that he was mocking.

RE: Gruehls has passed away
thank you Powerbait for telling us tiger fans. I really don't know what to say but I will say this....I'm in total shock and extremely upset. I met Gruehls @ at CUSA tourny years ago. He took his time to find me and introduced himself which I have never forgotten. Even though we only talked a few minutes it was truly special. Because of our message board relationship, I felt like I really knew him personally. My condolences to his family and all his friends, especially those here. I am so so sorry. I just can't believe he's gone. Sending love to all you Cincy fans....Janice

RE: Gruehls has passed away
I remember the first time Gruehls unleashed his fury on an opponents board. UC was playing Wake Forest and they were hammering UC about grad rates, criminals, and all that normal jive. Ah, the good ole' days! Greg came along, from seemingly out of nowhere, and totally ripped them a new one in a manner that was never seen before by anyone. Needless to say, the Wake fans were a bit stunned and I was glad that whoever this guy was that he was on our side.
As others have mentioned, Greg has done a lot for people personally, including myself. He was a very well connected man in Cincinnati, but you would have never known it talking to him. Truly one of the finest people I've ever met.
I haven't posted in years, but I almost threw up my breakfast when I saw this earlier today. My heart goes out to his family in ways that I can't express. If I still lived in Cincinnati, I would drop everything to attend the mass. He means that much to me.
I'm at a loss of words.

I love naming the board in gruels' honor. The smack board would have been appropriate as well. My best to his friends and family. Seemed like an amazing guy, and he was one hell of a banter member.

I was shocked to read this. Greg seemed so full of energy and had a great personality. I met with him and several room members years ago at the COLERAIN BREWING CO. to watch UC play in an NCAA game and he and his wife were so much fun. He treated strangers like he knew them all of his life. I hadn't seen him in here very much in the past couple of years and did not know if he had health issues. 56 is way too young to depart. He's in a better place but will be missed by family and friends. My condolences to his wife and kids. He'll be missed by many but never forgotten. A class act all of the way.

RE: Gruehls has passed away
I am in total shock. I often communicated with him via PM's, and he would out of the blue contact me to ask how my family was, even though we never met.

I always told him I would BBQ a feast for him if/when he could make it down here to visit. I am very saddened that I will never get the chance to do so.

Back earlier in the year, for a reason I have no idea, he PM'd me and wanted every-bodies sizes. He sent my family and I all Bengals football jerseys and shorts, and a Reds shirt as well for my son. And not the cheap stuff. I had promised him to take pics of us with it on and send them to him, but had not done so yet. Now I really feel bad. I hope he forgives me. He also sent a Bob Huggins bobblehead for my son Tyler several years ago.

Gruehls was a kind and gentle man, and I considered him a friend like many of you here even though we never go to to meet. He was just that kind of person.

I am truly saddened and will miss him greatly.

RIP my friend.
