RE: Coachingsearch.com: Greg Gregory will not return.
Would this be on the job training? How many years has CP been in the coaching profession.
That being said doesn't mean I support him for the position. However, his experience shouldn't preclude him from consideration. Example: GM at AU. Good High School coaches do move up sometimes.

Malzahn jumping from high school to Arkansas was different for many reasons. Most importantly, it was an established program with tons of D1 experience already on the coaching staff, something we don't have at USA. Also, Malzahn got that opportunity because he brought along a group of really highly rated football players. Bill Clark has helped hook us up with Prattville, but I'm not sure Propst could deliver anything like that. Eventually Malzahn became a great OC when he moved on to Tulsa, but lack of confidence between he and Nutt made for bad results at Arkansas.
Propst as a QB coach I'd be OK with. Let him get his feet wet and then take on a bigger role. If there's anything to this rumor, I have to wonder if maybe that could be the plan. CJJ is the OC and Propst QB Coach/ OC in training. He does have a ton of experience in running the pass-heavy spread.

The combination of Propst and CJJ could be a dynamic duo.
