San Diego State to the Big East.........they are going to the N.O. Bowl and we will see what a good location and bowl does for their fans as to travel...........the idea that they are in the big Easy or East is kind of like me playing in the NFL at 53 years of age..........Neither makes since or for that matter it is down right ridiculous.....:domokun:

I don't think you caught on to the program. This is college tv markets. Not college football.

I think college football died the day a 100,000 stadium was built and students couldn't get tickets.

Travel partner for Boise I guess? Only thing I can think of.

I did not see SDSU and Boise State in the Big East. I was thinking BYU and Navy.

CUSA loses three teams SMU, UCF and Houston.

CUSA will probably go after MTSU, FIU and UTSA.

The Sun Belt will counter with Georgia State, UNC Charlotte, App State and Georgia Southern.

West

ULL
ULM
ASU
UNT
USA
WKU

EAST

App State
Charlotte
GA State
GA Southern
FAU
Troy

The MWC will probably go with San Jose State to replace SDSU and add New Mexico State. TCU is going to the Big 12 so Utah State will get an invite. The WAC is gone.

CUSA will also look at UL, UNT, USA and FAU. Whoever is selected will change what schools could get invited. With that said, I still don't think the GSU's will be candidates, La Tech and the 2 new Texas Schools are superior candidates to them. App would be the most desirable school from an athletic standpoint, but a little bit of a geographic outlier, but that would make sense why UNC-Charlotte would be considered with it, they'd be a good add as well.

We shall see.

Yeah, I think the pecking order for CUSA is:

1 Middle Tennessee
2 UTSA
3 FIU
4 UNT
5 FAU
6 ULL
7 USA

Don't think you have any kind of clue.01-wingedeagle You're just guessin'03-melodramatic

RE: New Big East finally official?
The more I think about it, the full merger that UTEP's AD spoke of makes some sense.

Two divisions of 8. Football would likely play one crossover a year. Let the division champ with the highest BCS ranking host the championship game. Basketball could play 14 divisional games and either 2 or 4 crossover. Rotate the tournament east/west. Las Vegas one year, Memphis the other (Memphis is a Delta hub).

Probably have to pick up a few single sport members in the other sports.

MWC has the deal with Hawaii for football only, the best resolution to that is to make Hawaii not be a member of either division or eligible to win the league title but eligible for player of the week, coach of the year, and all-conference honors. Play 4 east and 4 west each year on home/home, then rotate after two years. Every school would go to Hawaii once every four years.

I don't think Hawaii and USU all-sports would fly. First problem is in the other sports gets expensive. Second and larger problem is that Air Force seems to be inclined to stay despite Big East interest. If you go to 18 for football, you can't have a cross-over game because Air Force will leave before they agree to 9 game schedule.

You could also make Hawaii eligible for the championship game ONLY if their record is better than both division champs. The D champ with the worst record is out.

IMO if the Alliance happens then the C-USA will not take anyone and will stay put.

LaTech would be my first choice. Don't care to add another Florida school. Wouldn't mind Temple being added.

So adding MTSU and UTSA would be a higher priority then keeping a market in Florida, and keeping the #5 media market in the country?

Personally, I don't know if C-USA will expand if the MWC merger goes through. But, if they do, I'm confident your theory is far of base from what they would consider. Not that I think MTSU is a bad addition. I just don't see them being a priority over Florida. As for UTSA, I can't see C-USA adding a start up program in a smaller San Antonio market, when they can keep the Dallas market with the addition of UNT.

Sources?

There are no sources. All of these schools will remain in their conferences, and join the alliance.

The great thing about the MT market is that there is no real competition in the area outside of Tennessee. Vanderbilt clings to the SEC but in reality have about as many fans as MT does and MT generally keeps growing in the football arena (large Vandy crowds are due to visiting SEC teams so don't read into that). With a few more years behind us and any luck, we should be the second most followed team in the state.
