I just can't figure out why this MAC game is even a thread on here, much less still being talked about.

4 times a week...when no one wants to watch football. MAC football is like watching children play in a parking lot.
Alright, well we're getting 1.5 million viewers a pop, and recruits are seeing Offenses play some ball. Even if we don't have defenses the exposure is probably doing a little good. 29k in the stands and no one outside of that. Or 12k in the stands and 1.5 million viewers on ESPN2... I'll take it.
Any proof that 1.5 million are watching each MAC game? I find it hard to believe that many people tune in on a Tuesday night to see two MAC teams light each other on fire.
I know the Temple vs. OU game did a couple of weeks ago. Idk the share from the BSU, and NIU game. ESPN U doesn't draw as well. But the ESPN2 games definantly do. Reguardless the ESPN U is probably in the 300 - 500k range. Which is better than not being on at all.

I tend to think these kind of threads are pertinent because in at least one bowl game this season, we will see a SBC vs MAC team (probably SBC champ vs MAC champ), so it adds to the speculation of what we will bring to this match up. As it stands now, I haven't seen a team in the MAC that I don't think that ASU could beat in the Godaddy bowl. stAte is a great defensive team and plays solid opportunistic offense, that defense will slowdown any team they have to face. The cajuns would have might have tough games, but I think a game against a top team would be close, but not unwinnable. In fact, because of their defense, I think that WKU would be a better matchup against a MAC team in a bowl game. We'd talk about the possibility of a CUSA team we would play, but it's not looking very good for there to be a CUSA team in New Orleans, in fact, I'd put money on Houston in a BCS bowl making it almost impossible for there to be a CUSA team in New Orleans, also making for another possible matchup against a MAC team, unless somehow New Orleans is able to snatch up a team from a bigger conference.

Temple/Ohio Down Double-Digits From Last Year’s NBA Game: Wednesday’s Temple/Ohio college football game earned a 1.0 U.S. rating and 1.356 million viewers on ESPN, down 17% in ratings and 20% in viewership from last year’s comparable NBA Opening Week game (CHI/OKC: 1.2, 1.697M), which aired opposite the 2010 World Series. Temple/Ohio moved to ESPN to replace the canceled Heat/Knicks game. (ESPN)
I'm looking for more MAC numbers, I will post if I find more.
I found something that said Toledo vs. NIU had a 0.7 HH. But I don't know what that means.

But that website, they had 1HH for the OU/Temple matchup. And official Nielson was 1.356 Mill. So If 1HH is connected with the 1.356 (aka more than one viewer per household) Toledo has a million viewers. That or both numbers are somehow off.
I've been looking all night and those are the only two games I can even find info on. Unless they are top 10 for the day in cable finals I can't find them. I also found Toledo had a 2.4 share for the Boise St. game at home Sept. 16th, but thats irrelevant. Although it was a Friday night game.
If you guys can find anything I'm curious to find #'s.

Never under estimate the power of people to make typos. Also, they could have rounded down or just made a mistake.

yeah, the whole point is that MAC schools are getting enough viewers to watch their week night games that the attendance doesn't really matter. And I think what they're losing in atmosphere they're gaining in viewership and popularity. Who knows if we're actually making $ from these deals. It's only hurting the top 3 or 4 teams in the conference who do actually draw well on weekends. For the others it's all the same.
And the teams playing during the week happen to be our best programs this year, so maybe bowl comittee's will like that parts of the country not used to seeing MAC schools, could be gaining interest. """If you want to see offense come to the MAC bowl game""" As they said on PTI. Better 63-60, than 3-0.

It hurts perception for people to turn on the TV and see your teams playing in front of 10,000 people. Having said that, we will be lucky to have 10K at our next game.

I guess it depends on the game. I'm sure if good football is being played in front of a small crowd, that is still better than awful football in front of a sell out. I wouldn't care who was in the stands. [/u]

But if 10 people watch it, then thats 10 more people getting to know the program. So (if) its a trade off, I take large tv audience over large home attendance...
Tv only hurts small schools whose fans actually stay home instead of go to the games.

If it is CBS Sports or Fox Regional, I don't think the exposure justifies weeknight games.

Oh I did not know what station they were on. I assumed that the game was nationally televised... That's dumb if they played during the week for a local or statewide telecast.
