Scary ASU thought of the day
In the last 8 seasons. (Roberts Era) ASU has played approximately 1 November home game with a winning record.

Our average attendance for those games? 11,000

If there was ever a year to feel good about breaking those trends, this has to be it.

Maybe you guys should try to get hunting banned...

Just remember. That if ASU, UA, UCA, UAPB, and every Division II football school in the state were to sellout a home game on the first day of deer season, that is less than half as many people as will be tramping around the woods.

I don't get the fascination with deer hunting but there will be over 300,000 people out there on November 12.

You'd have better luck getting alcohol banned.

Why is the 1st day so popular? How long does the season last?

In Florida we have a Lobster MINI-Season that only lasts 48 hours before the regular season. The waters are so busy on those two days its insane. Routinely 1-2 divers die each year during Mini Season.

That's when everything gets crazy....bucks (for the most part) haven't felt pressure from the hunters. After the first day, the deer tend to lay down during daylight hours.

Most of the deer are killed in the first couple of days of the particular season.

Many go where no one is hunting them.

Family owns 240 acres near Lake Charles and the only person who ever hunted was my son. In HS he would wear his truck out going back and forth deciding where to put his tree stand before the season started. We always waited a few days into the season before letting him hunt and he never, ever made it to the stand before getting his deer. Sometimes he never made it off the back porch.

Im not sure on beaking attendance trends. There are many who believe we wont even get 15,000 to the UL game because its the first day of deer season.

Our highest November crowd in the last 11 years is 16,700, for a 2-5 team. (Im not sure what we did that day to draw the fans)

If yall don't clear 20,000 I'll be disappointed. I know its hunting season, but if UL takes care of business this weekend, then that game is essentially for a conference championship or atleast a share of one (I haven't forgot about yall WKU fans). I hope yall can start a promotional blitz now so that the game has a great crowd.

Only positive I see in deer hunting is you can be sure there will be one or more missing person case closed when a hunter stumbles across a body or a skeleton in the woods.

Maybe the folks at Tulane counted the crowd that day?

Lots of people down here are talking about making the trip up there, especially if we beat ULM Saturday.. If your fans don't show maybe we will have half of the stadium...

ASU has already started the marketing push, Free Tickets to Boy and Girl scouts in uniform, Free tickets to Pee Wee Football players in Uniform, and Free tickets to all armed personel including Millitary, Police, Fire, and Paramedics.

All of those can then bring as many guests as they want with half pric ticets.

The issue is that ASU cannot market this game as an SBC title game, because unlike UL, who would essentially be playing its last game of the year (Zona doesnt really count) ASU still has 2 conference games (@ MTSU, vs Troy) after that, and it probably wouldnt go well to market something that cant be clinched.

However, if WKU would go ahead and be good little boys and lose this week, and our team decides to win a road game @ Boca, then ASU could market it as a conference title game, because it would actually be that.

If WKU loses to FIU this week and ASU beats FAU. Arkansas State would be playing to clinch the league against Louisiana.

ASU would hold a two game lead on everyone with two left and would hold the tiebreaker vs Louisiana, FIU, and WKU the only ones left that could tie at 6-2.

UL would be in the same boat obviously, with us as their final league game.

If WKU wins, then there is no chance of a league title being clinched.

I would like to see ULL bring enough people that would fill half the stadium regardless. That would mean a sellout with SRO being used. And of course it would also mean a LOT of ULL fans outside the fence looking in. 05-stirthepot
