So where do we stand?
That was one hell of a game plan by Western Kentucky. We were lost, and beaten handily. If you cant get motivated to play after having your asses handed to you last year then you shouldn't take the field... we were brutalized today. We will see how good a coach Hud is next week.

SO...No doubt Ark St is the favorite to win it all...what next? Is WKY gonna come on strong and make some noise at the end? Is FIU dead in the water? Whats up with ULM?? will NT spoil someones plans..IS MT making a comeback??. Can HUD bring our boys back? Things will get interesting from here on out.

Looked like a gorgeous day in Bowling Green!! Once again, congratulations to WKU!!

RE: So where do we stand?
Thanks for the grats! We needed this win. Our football fanbase is very much a bandwagon group (especially students). Getting a big win like this will do a lot for getting more butts in the seats for the rest of the year and, hopefully, in future seasons.

As far as the belt goes

stAte is in the drivers seat. It is theirs to lose.

I think that FIU, UL, and WKU are all right there in the next group. If stAte slips up then any of those three could win it.

UNT, Troy, and MTSU are next. They are the Jekyll and Hyde group that haven't found that consistency yet (WKU couldn't find it to start the year, I hope they have now).

FAU is looking to the future. The stadium is great, but as great as Howard is (and he is great), they need a fresh take from a new HC, I am hoping they hire a good one.

In the end, I think that stAte wins it all and goes to Mobile. I think UL goes to New Orleans.

If I understand correctly, the SEC sends #9 to the BBVA bowl, but they have 4 teams under .500 right now so if FIU or WKU can get there, they might go bowling as well.

RE: So where do we stand?
MTSU still scares me (especially since our game is in Murfreesboro), but I'm glad they have 2 conference loses already. If Kilgore has more games like yesterday, they will be able to stay with anyone.

Yesterday went almost like I expected....but the one surprise was UNT. I didn't see ULM losing that one.

MTSU is really hard to rank. Statistically they've been great offensively, but they have yet to face any of the top league defenses outside of WKU, and its been widely acknowledged the Toppers cant stop the pass.

At the same time, UL, ASU, and FIU all must travel to Murfreesboro this year. We'll see how they handle UL and a road game at ULM before Ill start thinking about our game there...which I am already making plans to attend.

RE: So where do we stand?
Well Arkansas State controls its destiny.

Those chasing:
One loss:
Western Kentucky needs help getting past Arkansas State. They either need ASU to lose twice or get into a three way tie and have the three way tie-breaker go their way.
Louisiana. Can get tie-breaker over ASU with a win in Jonesboro but now needs a WKU loss or hope some sort of three-way tie breaks their way.

Two loss (ie. rest of the league other than FAU):
FIU on the wrong side of the tiebreakers with ASU and UL, even in the crazier possible outcomes they probably cannot win the tiebreakers
MT on the other hand MT hosts ASU and UL and they could end up in a position to win a multi-team tie, especially if WKU loses two more.
UNT on the wrong side of the tiebreaker with UL, will have to win at ASU on Saturday to have any chance.
ULM on the wrong side of the tiebreaker with ASU, will have to win next two to have a shot.
Troy on the wrong side of the tiebreaker with UL, has to win at FIU and then take home games vs UNT and FAU to be in position to have a shot with road games at WKU and ASU.

RE: So where do we stand?
Middle Tennessee has never finished worse than a game under .500 in conference play. I think we keep that record intact, which means we're beating at least two of Louisiana, ULM, ASU, FIU and UNT.

Troy doesn't know how to finish below .500 in-Conference...so we won't. *fingers crossed*

2005 was aweful. we switched over to the spread in '06 and changed our program's fortunes from then on.

It's crazy to think how much the hiring of Franklin changed your program which of course changed the Sun Belt. Had you hired a different guy that wasn't as successful especially if he hadn't been a spread guy, Troy and thus the conference itself, would look much different over the past five years.

yeah, we helped improve the Conference by our play and by our example.

That's not exactly what I was saying, the spread would have caught on even without Troy being one of the early adopters, but Troy's strong teams have definitely been a good thing for the conference.

I was honestly more just making the statement and wondering if Troy hadn't won or shared the last five conference titles, if someone else would have won multiple three or more titles or if we would have seen several schools win one or two.

well I'm going to pretend you meant it the way I took it because that was nicer and made me feel better.
