The Pitt message board is announcing victory as well...it looks like the kids high school coach was current Pitt QB Tyler Palko's dad...talk about a great connection

I understand that Dickerson plays rb, wr, and safety. Where does Pitt plan to play him?

Once Pitt gets their first blue chip, the chips might start coming in fast and furious.

great pickup for pitt, hopefully its the start of a huge recruiting class. it's not such a doom and gloom scenario as most big east critics like to believe. wv, louisville, syracuse, usf, pitt, and rutgers have all proven to be more than able to recruit their share of 4 star recruits over the past couple of years. as long as we have our autobid and the money that comes with that, recruits will want to play in our league, regardless of what people say.

jackson, cuseroc, or any fan of a big east team.. are you on the radar for a 5 star record. i would like to see all our teams to get a few just to shut up the critics, for now. playin on the field will shut em up entirely.

Animus,

Its a great start if Pitt can get some of these guys to come to Pitt. Although good point about AM and AJ. I think also a CB signed with WF on LOI day as well (Alphonso Smith??).

Another caveat is that If Pitt and DW dont live up to expectations this year, then some of these guys might not sign like 2003 where Pitt lost the name players when they lost to Toledo, WVU, UM, ND. Alot depends on how Pitt does in the beginning of the year when they host ND to open and goto NU for the 3rd game. If Pitt splits NU and ND (hopefully beating the domers bad) then they might get more guys to committ and get the media/fans excited again like 2003 (with hopefully 50k+ at Heinz). However, if Pitt loses badly to both NU and ND you will only see about 35k at Heinz with the mantra 'same old Pitt'.

It should be an interesting year with 4 really big games (ND, NU, WVU, UL) and other potential toss-ups. If Pitt can go 9-2 things will be looking up for Pitt!

yeah dude that was a bad day in the history of pitt. we also lost a reciever to usf that day.

a 9-2 season is more than likely to happen. could even go 10-1. could start slow due to havin a new coach but i don't think he'll tweek the offense too much of all the talent @ reciever. so he may throw more than he wants to but still will be determined to run till the run game becomes the force he wants it to be.

therefore back to recruiting i think pitt w/ a 9-2 season or even an 8-3 year will do great for keepin the recruits that pitt already has.

-- WVU is going to have a very small recruiting class....maybe only 12 players...looks like most of them are going to be O and D lineman..players the star system is not kind to...I wouldn't expect any Jason Gwaltney type of kids in terms of hype for WVU this yr

-- WVUs biggest recuit that is one the radar right now is the corner our of Pittsburgh....rated #1 in the country by rivals....I'm sure Penn St, Pitt and WVU have been all over this kid since he was a freshman in HS so we'll have to see how it plays out

ur talkin bout darrin walls from woodland hills. should be a good one. hes another recruit in the recruiting war vs michigan. i say he would go to mich b4 wvu. but i'd rather see him go to wvu than mich. just yesterday on pantherlair he mentioned he was "very interested" in goin to pitt. but who knows.

why such a small class. you don't have that many scholarships to give or somethin. what happened

-- When coach Nehlen retired...a lot of kids left the program....most of them were kids who didn't fit into the RichRods new schemes (QBs that couldn't run, TEs, Big O-lineman) .....In RichRods first yr WVU had so few scholorship players that it seemed like that the football team had committed some big NCAA violation and some scholorships were taken away....so to make up for the #s loss WVU started taking huge recruiting classes (mostly the #s were in the mid 20s for 3 yrs running)....now the # of WVU players on scholorship is even with everyone else but taken those huge classes has caught up with them for 2006...its nothing to be concerned about

Right now we have 1 recruit that has verballed to Cuse. He is a 6'3" 205 lb monster wide receiver from Buffalo who runs a 4.49 40 and has a 40" vertical leap. He had offers from Pitt, Wisconsin, and others.

He is highly rated, Im am not sure how high, but many college coaches just have raved over this kid.

So far that is it for SU, because we are going after higher quality players now and not offereing to 2 star recruits just yet. Thats a big difference from our former coach, who kind of settled too early. I expect things to get going relatively soon as we are recruiting some great players that have SU high on their list.

Congrats on your great recruit there. It seems that Pitt is heading for a top 25 recruiting class with all of these verbals starting to come in. Its all great for the BE. :)
