The article has nothing (or little) to do with what humans bring in, it's all about stowaways coming in through cargo. When I went through Colorado a couple of years ago, my cousin told me that there would probably not be any more pine trees in the Colorado Rockies within a few years. The mountains looked barren at the time and a very marked change from when I was a kid and would go to the mountains several times a year. That's all thanks to the pine beetle (which I think came from China). Other prominent examples are fruit flies, zebra mussels, fire ants, africanized bees, etc.

I would guess the vast majority of foreign species come by sea, due to the sheer volume or sea-based cargo (which I guess is many times air based cargo?).
