They sure as hell have earned it thus far. When was the last time a SBC team was 5-1? Or further, when was the last time a SBC team had a 6-game stretch where they were 5-1?

why not just always call them Louisiana? it's more marketable and that helps the Conference image.

I prefer accuracy in my posts. I'll stick with Louisiana-Lafayette. When they get a 26 game conference winning streak, I'll shout Louisiana from the rooftops.

Middle Tennessee started the 2001 season 5-0. Then they were beat by a 0-5 North Texas team that won their remaining Belt game.04-bow

Yeah, I got busy after posting this earlier. I went back and looked, and there have been many more 5-1 stretches than I would have thought.

FAU finished 2008 6-1. 7-6 overall.
FIU finished last year 5-1, 7-6 overall.
Louisiana had a 5-1 stretch back in 2008 between Kent state and FIU, the only loss was to Kansas State.
ULM finished 2008 5-1, 6-6 overall.
MTSU ran off 7 straight to end 2009.

And Troy hada 7 game win streak in 2009, a 6-game streak in 2007, and went 7-1 down the stretch to an overall 8-5 record in 2006.

So it (a 5-1 stretch) has happened way more than I thought, which is very, very good for the conference.

NT had a 8-game win streak in 2003, and 7-gamers in 2002 and 2004.

So does your comment that prompts it.

I call them Louisiana. It's a respect thing. And I know universities are more than their athletics. But athletics push the brand.

i will call them what i've always called them.

ulala

kudos if they get others calling them what they want.

my youngest son who is a freshman calls us wku. i call us western....i'm almost fitty-freakin'-two years old and it's western to my generation. the school promotes wku and it's making headway.

i call the following:

middle
south al
troy state
asu
little rock
big lots (i keed...i keed...i call em ulm or monroe)
fiu
flarda atlantic
north texas (unt if typing)

i consider z a friend so maybe he has room for one too old to change or care person on his friend list.

I will be cooking a big pot of gumbo for the game. Please come Matt. It will look good on you. Then you tell everyone on the "Slimmer" board why you hate UL fans.

Everybody is jealous of a winner, so for now I'll call them the Lafayette. When/if they go back to normal I'll refer to them as Louisiana.
