Conference Reshuffle
Alright, now TCU is going to the Big 12 for 2012-2013.
With that move the Big East has to play its cards now.
As a result, the Big East invites East Carolina, Central Florida and Temple. After they accept, then UMASS gets the call putting the BE at ten members. Temple gets the invite because Navy sends word that it is not interested, it does not need the politics.
After losing UCF and ECU, CUSA invites Middle Tennessee and Texas San Antonio.
CUSA EAST
Alabama Birmingham
Marshall
Memphis
Middle Tennessee
Southern Mississippi
Tulane
CUSA WEST
Houston
Rice
Southern Methodist
Texas El Paso
Texas San Antonio
Tulane
The Sun Belt stops sitting on the fence and invites Appalachian State and Georgia State then makes La Tech an offer it can't refuse. If La Tech refuses, the Sun Belt holds at 11.
SBC EAST
Appalachian State
Florida Atlantic
Florida International
Georgia State
South Alabama
Troy
SBC WEST
Arkansas State
Louisiana Lafayette
Louisiana Monroe
Louisiana Tech
North Texas
Western Kentucky
All right, how do you feel about this line up.

I honestly don't believe that UTSA is in a position to leap frog over anyone in the Sunbelt into CUSA.
I also don't believe that the Sunbelt would consider a single FCS let alone 2 unless it was a WAC-esque worst case scenario.

App State wouldn't be a bad addition... They've already had experience playing the big boys, they've got good facilities, and they could compete at SBC's lower levels. I don't think they'd allow them in unless the top teams leave (ie MTSU and Troy).

UTSA gets the nod because of its size and its location.
Plus you get bigger fan hype.
All of the three big Cities in Texas are represented, Houston, Dallas, San Antonio plus El Paso. All four corners plus Tulsa.

RE: Conference Reshuffle
If for some God forsaken reason CUSA chose UTSA over UNT...I would be so pissed. That is no slight to the Sun Belt, just the principle of it. But I would agree that UTSA doesn't jump anybody right now or for a while. Unless they jump other FCS schools (which I hope never happens) to get into the SBC
