RE: Tennesse AD wants conference to expand
It's not saying that Tennessee WANTS to expand further he is saying that it is some thing the SEC is going to do regardless. They are just not looking to fill another position for 2012 which makes me think that West Virginia or possibly Louisville might some what still be in the running possibly for a position amongst the SEC. If Mizzu was going they could be added along with A&M for 2012, but they clearly state they are NOT looking to fill another spot for that calendar year. They are stating that the administrators will be getting together so they can get all their ducks in a row so to say before exploring their options on another candidate, but yes they will be expanding just not soon enough for all of us.

Right.
No way the SEC stops at 13.
Yet no way the SEC plays anything other than 13 in 2012.
So they have until next summer to decide on #14 for 2013, and whether 14 is where they want to stop.

Aside from the Big East, the Big 12 knows that it's the weakest and least cohesive BCS conference. That fact, combined with having witnessed the ACC expand to 14 and seeing clear indications emerge that the SEC will eventually expand to 14, will likely drive the remaining Big 12 members to conclude there's safety in numbers and also expand to 14. I'm guessing BYU, TCU, Louisville, Cincinnati and WVU will all have their invitations in hand within a month.

The SEC will stop at 14. 14 is the magic number for conferences. You get 6 division games, 1 fixed cross-division rival, and 1 variable cross-division game + 4 OOC, or you can do 3 cross-division games and 3 OOC.
It is the perfect formula for conference stability for the next few decades.

You're missing 1 if you think the B12 is going to 14. If you have Mizzou in the B12 then you need WVU in the SEC, B12 would need a 14th. If you have Mizzou in the SEC you still need 1 for 14 in the B12. USF, Boise, Rutgers, UConn, Air Force seems to be the pool to chose from after the ones you have.

Not necessarily. Could be Florida State or Va Tech in the SEC and UConn moving to the ACC.

Maybe, but all seems to be pointing at Mizzou and WVU right now. I know, I know, boom SEC hits us w/ something we didn't see and land one of those.

He was the Athletic Director at ECU when I was in school in the mid 90's. He will have our back for sure if the SEC decides to go to 16.

And if the Big 12 does that it becomes stronger and more cohesive than the ACC.

I don't think Missouri would want to jump as fast as A&M did. It's a lot more costly to leave earlier and I suspect that even if Missouri does announce it's leaving, it will be for 2013, not 2012.

Former Tennessee AD Mike Hamilton was fired a little over a month ago. Tennessee's AD is still a short timer. He has no pull yet...

RE: Tennesse AD wants conference to expand
the ticker at the bottom of E*** just said that the SEC has a planned meeting in regards to "confirm" further expansion (so I guess they're going to 14 soon?)
