I would say they just went down there as an excuse to go to Joe's Stone Crabs but the season does not open until 10/15.

Be careful what you wish for. Cristobal looks good on the tube. If you keep winning someone might steal him. The plight of the mid major.

Why would they come to Troy. FIU is the hot item in the conference and when has Troy started a season at 3-0 with 2 OC wins ?

When they redid his contract I was hoping they put a 3 million buyout on it, but I think its only 1.5. That is peanuts to most AQ schools. If UGA fires Richt as anticipated they could very easily make a pitch to Mario and pay that exit buyout.
I hope he stays because he has been good for FIU and conversly the 'Belt, but it would be hard for anyone to not take a High Level AQ job no matter how much he likes staying home in Miami.

This is great for the conference. Boise could easily drop a game, TCU will probably drop another, and I doubt Houston gets through CUSA play unscathed. The Panthers just need to keep their heads on a swivel and not buy in to the hype. An undefeated season would do wonders for the conference, and if by some miracle they make it to a BCS bowl and actually compete, losing Christobal or not, that would completely reverse the sun belts perception in just one season. I will be following closely. Go Panthers. Go sun belt. Suck it LT.

Spoken from experience...Welcome to the club...
It has to start somewhere...FIU wanted to be where TROY was and they put themselves in position to do that. Now, there are conference brethren that want to be where FIU is...that's how it goes.

I'd pump the brakes on the Richt getting fired talk, I think he can keep his job at 8-4 and with as down as the east is and as well as they played against east favorite South Carolina I think that Georgia will do better than outsiders expect. They have four more "likely wins" with Vandy, Kentucky, Ole Miss and New Mexico State and there is not another game on their schedule that is unwinnable Tennessee and Florida are both down, Mississippi State, Auburn and Georgia Tech will all be tough, but none of them are world beaters. Provided they manage to go 4-0 against Vandy, Kentucky, Ole Miss and New Mexico State I don't think it would be a big stretch for them to go 3-2 against Tennessee, Florida, Miss State, Auburn and Georgia Tech. I think with the young talent they have 8-4 might get Richt one more year, but if he doesn't improve on that number next year then I think it will be his last year between the hedges.
Anyhow, I'm not so sure they'd come after Cristobal, not without FIU having a major breakout season, probably 11 wins or more, and he'd also have to ditch the spread, I just don't think they'd run a spread at UGA ever, especially not now having signed the number 1 running back and number 4 TE in their last class.

They must've gotten lost trying to go to the U...
Let them get the big head... TROY will be happy to deflate it on National TV for them.

That's just great for the FIU program, and for the Sun Belt as well. I've heard ESPN plans to air the FIU report, including Mario Cristobal interview and his miked up portion of the practice, between 10 and 11 am on Saturday. Can't wait to see my Panthers being showcased on national TV.
Truly amazing turnaround.
