Swarbrick is kidding, right?
Syracuse, Pitt exit Big East, shake up conference realignmenthttp://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/football/story/2011-09-18/syracuse-pitt-move-to-acc-shake-conference-alignment-again/50459128/1
On a day when the Atlantic Coast Conference introduced Syracuse and Pittsburgh as new members, poaching them from an unhappy Big East, Notre Dame's athletics director did little to mask his exasperation.
The Atlantic Coast Conference extended its footprint into New York and Pennsylvania with the addition of Syracuse and Pittsburgh on Sunday.
"I don't understand it," Jack Swarbrick said as a new round of conference hopping in college athletics moved into high gear Sunday. "How do you vote as a collegiate president on something that has the potential to provide some benefit for your institution and the conference you're affiliated with but has a very negative consequence for a host of other members of the academy, as presidents like to call it?
"I'd like to know how much of these discussions are: What's right? What is the best thing for the larger enterprise, and how many other schools would be adversely impacted?
He can't be for real can he? This is all a result of ND not becoming a football member of the BE.
He is $ick, if he is exasperated. Basically, he is admitting ND is scewed.

RE: Swarbrick is kidding, right?
ND has its second most important sport in the nation's best basketball conference and that conference is about to fracture and leave ND behind with the also-rans. Of course he's unhappy. But instead of complaining about it, particularly in a way that could alienate some of the schools going to the ACC, he should be working behind the scenes to land ND a non-football ACC membership.
Unless of course he's already tried and been turned down.

If the Big Ten adds two teams, odds are they will include ND.

This discussion was already discussed ad nauseum, in another thread. Lots of ND hate, and ND fans fighting. Good stuff. ND deserves to be left out of everything imo.
