Our TD was reviewed. It wasn't overturned because they didn't have enough evidance to overturn anything. I agree it was suspect, but your D wasn't stopping our O either and that was a 1st down play.
You guys won last night because of better fundamentals and more points on the board at the end. Good luck to you in the rest of your season.

edit: You guys will still have a fine season. You have a fantastic QB leading a solid offense. I think many of you are discounting the fact that KU has one of the better stables of RBs in the country. While KU may not be a great team overall, you just faced a fine offense on the road.
We don't know how good KU is, that's part of it. I think a lot of people assume they aren't very good, I'd like to wait and see. The KU backs are good, but we still need to tackle better. We've had much better defenses than this in the past and it still wasn't good enough to win the MAC. That's what concerns most of us.

Breakdowns in the secondary cost us dearly..no way should a receiver be open by 10 yards...(remember that Toledo game at Huskie Stadium when the receiver was wide open for the TD and the win)
Too much speed for our linebackers....
Last team to have the ball was going to win..felt that the entire second half
Kick returns killed us ..gave them field position all night...
We will score points this season but I think that Wisky and Toledo will beat us because of our defense...

I remember that one and last year's MACC against Miami. I also remember the one in the MACC in 2005 (although that was a hail mary in the end zone). I remember too many of these against NIU and all 3 were different coaching staffs.

FWIW, I'm pretty positive the ref crew last night was a MAC crew (they were not a Big XII crew), and most KU fans are quite upset with the reffing as well.
I just looked in your game thread and I saw a few posts saying the refs were your best defenders, and it's true. All game long KU had to dig itself out of holes due to holding calls, which after watching the replay were very iffy calls. Meanwhile, watching from the stands, there were 5 or 6 blatant holds by the NIU WR's and not a single one was called on NIU. There were several other no-calls on what appeared to be obvious penalties on NIU (a couple horse-collar tackles, a very late head to head hit on a return, etc...). Then the fact that your final touchdown which was questionable wasn't reviewed while our final touchdown, which was obviously a TD WAS reviewed, and you can see the KU side having some serious doubts about the impartiality of the crew.
The Jayhawks had 9 penalties for 75 yards, which also negated ~150 yards and 2 TDs as well (one of those resulted in a missed FG). Only 3 flags were thrown on NIU all night, and two of those were so obvious that there is no way they couldn't have thrown a flag (the facemask and the late hit out of bounds). Yes, they overturned a call that went your way (and it was a very close call either way. I personally think the review team got that one right, but that's just my perspective) but that was the only time all game that the reffing didn't go your way.
So I guess I'd just like to point out that it's easy blaming the refs and seeing the calls that went against you while ignoring the other side's perspective on things.
Not blaming the refs. But if you're going to talk about holding and most of the calls were going our way... your tight end was holding on almost every play at the end of the game. The announcers kept talking how good a blocker he was, but if you watch the last drive, he was holding pretty blatantly on a few of them that helped you runner get past our de.

You are helping to prove my point. It's easy to see things you think the other team should be called for while ignoring the calls and/or no-calls that go your way. The lack of balance (9 flags vs 3) of the reffing gets on KU fan's nerves, because it feels like the refs are not calling it the same for both sides. The big play that was overturned against you stands out, because it created a big swing in score and momentum (but it's easy to forget the big plays that were called back for the other team). *shrug* KU fans aren't happy with the refs, NIU fans aren't happy with the refs... I guess the one thing we can all agree on is they were pretty bad.

Tom Wittum was a great punter who had a very good NFL career. Another was Jim Hannula. We need a kickoff person who can get the ball deep or high or both. All the kicks last night seemed short and not very high. Coverage may have been a problem, but this may have been due to the kicks themselves.

Jim Hannula was a tight end/punter who played for the Bengals (became an OT I believe) for a few years. He had to retire because of knee injuries.

That's what I was thinking. It was not as bad as the losses to Akron or Miami, because it did not ruin the Huskies' chances at a Championship.
The Huskies can recover and still have a championship season with a bowl game.

The refs were our best defenders tonight.
NIU lost this game because of its inability to stop KU offense, it wasn't like we were stopping them before that play.
+1
On top of that the last rushing score for us didn't look like it was in from the angle on TV. They did not review it.
Lets move on and get ourselves ready for a nice fall day in the city.

We need more speed from our defense.
I think teams wait to long looking for players to kick.

Yea, as bad as it was, it didn't come close to those losses.

The one play that didn't get called was the KU linebacker hitting Daniels near the sideline.
That sure lokked like a helmet on helmet hit. The linebackers helmet flew off.
