RE: Do You Root for Other MAC Teams to Win?
I always root for the other MAC teams in non-conference play, especially when they play the BCS schools. A win over the "big boys" can only help. I would love to see Toledo beat the
living hell out of OSU.

RE: Do You Root for Other MAC Teams to Win?
I should root for other MAC schools when they are not playing NIU, but I feel kind of uncomfortable doing it. It does make a difference though when it comes to rankings. If the Huskies have another season of 10 or more wins, the pollsters will say, "That's nice, but who have they played?".
I would also like to see the MAC get more than two bowl victories in a post season. That's never happened before.

If those schools were 9-3 or 10-2 with a couple of wins each against BCS teams then our beating them means a LOT more.
Unfortunately, other MAC teams winning their OOC games can negatively impact our bowl chances, while beating up on the Kent States and EMUs helps our bowl chances and getting into the MACC.
Quite well put.
It only negatively impacts our bowl chances if we lose. And who cares if we go to the crap bowls we go to because we beat 0-12 and 1-11 MAC teams. I'd rather go to less bowls and be in a conference where winning it (not that we have even done that) mean something, rather than going to a bowl where we beat up on a crap MAC. It scares me that many of you seem like you'd rather have the MAC suck as long as we win. Well, being king of the losers means you're just the king loser - no thanks.
I guess you are glad that the 2002 and 2003 Huskies did not go to a bowl game. They did not win the conference, screw their record.

Things have changed since 2003. There are more MAC tie-ins. No way does a 10-2 team not get invited to a bowl now. I would rather be a good team that doesn't get an invite than an average team that gets invited and the game, attendance, and atmosphere are lousy. And as RB has stated, beating up on weak conference foes just so you can be king of the losers isn't very appealing.

Yea, if you get into a bowl at 6-6 and end up playing somebody like TCU like we did before...not pretty. Even worse, get into a bowl and play La Tech and lose.

Yes, things have changed since 2003 but not much. The MAC has one more bowl affiliation. Also, going to a bowl has its benefits in that there are extra practices, it motivates the team by giving them a free vacation and it helps in recruiting. I would rather have the Huskies go to a bowl game instead of staying home.

Win or lose vs Kansas, can you imagine if both NIU and Toledo pulled stunners against two top 10 teams on back to back days, the 16 and 17th. It certainly would make for an interesting Nov 1st game in the Glass Bowl.

I guess that's the difference. I want them to be a good team and deserve a bowl. 7-5 or 6-6 is not good enough in my opinion-especially if their conference is weak. You make a good point about extra practices, but it is also extra $ to send them to a bowl. I just can't get excited about an average team making a bowl game.

+1 - Exactly why I root for them OOC. Makes conference games more meaningful and exciting. Makes winning more satisfying too.

I usually root for all the other MAC teams, cept CMU. For some reason I started disliking them when Lefevor was there. I will definetly be rooting for Toledo to pull the upset this weekend too.

Go MAC!
I'm a little uncomfortable with this but Foledo just took an 8-7 lead over OSU and I like it!
